You may have to carry your own bedsheets/bedspreads if you are gonna bunk in one of the cheaper huts, especially during off-peak season. The bedspread they provided was pretty dirty. Or you can pick up bedspreads for about INR 150 to 200 in one of the shops in Hampi.

Luggage and bags: A day pack is necessary to hold water etc.
Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Comfortable walking shoes a must; Hampi requires a fair bit of walking.
Toiletries and Medical Supplies: Mosquito repellants, sunscreen
Camping/Beach/Outdoor Gear: Summer cap or protective scarf is an absolute must all-year round. Sunglasses too!
Miscellaneous: Carry lots of coins and change.
