Well, in indian English, Hotel sometimes means Restaurant ! Don't be surprised you've seena hotel sign borad and they say they're just a restaurant, atleast when you're in Kerala.

Well, let me come to the subject.
Hotel Sagar is very near to the KSRTC ( Kerala Road Transport Corporation Limited ) Bus station in Calicut. If you're in some other part ot calicut city, the best way to reach Hotel Sager is to get an autoriksha( the three wheeler).
Well there are 2 Hotel Sager, both being managed by sae company. Still, I would advice you to go to the one next to KSRTC stand.

The Hotel itself is a 18th century Muslim home. They just renovated it to a hotel( Again I repeat you can't stay here, it's ust a restaureant-not be betrayed with the word 'restaurant')

Now, ask for Porotta and 'meen'( fish in malayalam) curry. Or you can just ay Poratta and fish curry please. hey, Keralite are not that bad in English.

You might be paying around Rs.25(0.5 Euros) for this delicacy. It'll fill your stomach for a whole day.

I recommend you to visit this 'Hotel' if you have any plan to go to Kerala. It's worth it !
Only incase you are found of Indian food and ofcourse in the 'indian masalas'.

If you don't understand the word 'masala'.
I'm so sorry, just for got what you read here.

Favorite Dish: 1. fish curry with Poratta
2. Chicken Biriyani

The cheapest way to travel in Kerala is by train and by KSRTC Buses.

Well, the buses are not that good. But they are damn cheap.

And ofcourse the trains.I'm sure the exchange reates would tempt you to get a firt class ticket in train. If you're really interested to learn more about the people of Kerala, I would advice you to reavel second class.

It would be a unique experiance.
And ofcourse ipn your mouth.
After all Keralites have some a kind of admiration towards a foreign 'White/black' .

Yes. The people will stare at you and you'll certainly have some kind of uncomfortable feeling.

Hey, here come the happy news, from a native of this town, who stared so many ...

The stares are jsut anywhere, the first reason is that you're a white/black guy. Keralites has seen few White/Black guys in their lives. os take a closr look at you. Nothing wrong about them !!!

I can surely say that the atares are some kind of admiation, not hatred toards foreigners. The people of kerala respect you. They admire you. They were ruled by the ' white' british for a long time. ANd if you start talking to one of the local, it's a great privilage for them.

Believe me, it was a great priviliage for me.
So just open your mouth and start making friends.

Well, once you say hello, your new indian firends can ask you just anything...!
Hey, it's india, a place your friend can ask you whether you had sex last night. Don't misunderstand it. And ofcourse please don't forget that most indians believe that the 'Americans/Europeans' will have sex with just anybody who came their way.

Enjoy being a local god !
