Kodanand is known for an elephant yard - where the elephants rescued from the forest is taken in. Sad to say, there are only 7 elephants and all of tied to chains. If you expect a lovely encounter with elephants, Kodanand will make it very disappointing.
Unique Suggestions: In Kodanand, you will watch the elephants from the distance. But if you wish, they can take you for a 30min elephant ride... just on the adjacent street.
Fun Alternatives: If you must see elephants in Kerala, avoid Kodanand. The elephant yard in Trichur is much better.
