This lovely building was the residence of the Portuguese Governor. The 27th Bishop of the Diocese of Cochin, Domes Jos Gomes Ferreira, acquired this building which was built in 1557. Today it houses the Indo-Portuguese Museum which is a must see visit. There's also some nice gardens at the front.

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Near the Parade Ground you can find this former Bishop's House, with a circular garden path running up to to the main entrance. It houses a nice little museum too, with some religious items.
It was built in 1506 for the Portuguese Governor and in 1795 it became residence of Dom Jos Gomes Ferreira, the 27th Bishop of the Diocese of Cochin. From here, he was in charge of Burma, Malaya and Ceylon, besides southern and eastern India.
