Perhaps the best in Decor on the beach. The restaurant is located at a height so try and get tables overlooking the beach. The interiors is done up in a very green manner with beautiful illuminated palms serving as props.

This is the Restaurant at the Jeevan Ayurvedic Beach Resort what makes it different from the others is that it has an open air terrace fringed by palms and with spectacular views of the beach and sea. Ideal for sunsets and dinner.
Favorite Dish: Go with the fresh Seafood.

Run by a Goan, Beatles is the closest place to a bar on the lighthouse beach. The place tends to play older rock music but it's popular with the toruists and the food is average.
The Beatles did vist Kovalam in the 1960's, but have no affiliation to the establishment.

Located on the Lighthouse Beach this restaurant is like many others in that it caters to western palettes.
Right at the entrance is a table with all the fresh catch of the day laid out for you to choose from. Choose what type of seafood (fish, crabs, mussels, shrimp etc), how you'd like it cooked (local curry / tandooried / steamed / grilled) grab a seat and enjoy the view.
Favorite Dish: Always look at the fish for a while and make sure you choose the freshest (even day old fish needs to be sold), this will make all the difference.
The Barracuda in curry and Shrimps grilled and basted with a Butter Garlic Sauce.

There are plenty of restaurants to choose from in Kovalam. Most of them serving similar food though. In my opinion, they are overpriced (in local standards) and if you are craving for "real" Indian food, there are better places elsewhere.
The good news though is that fishes are almost always fresh since the day's catch is sold on the beach each day.

Serving everything under one roof, with the specialities being the baked goods. It also has good pizzas and lasagnes if your missing home.
