Mumbai to Gwalior by train

The Kurla(Mumbai)-Agra Lashkar Exp. arrives in Agra at 11am. on Saturdays. After checking into a hotel we can go to the Sun temple. Auto rikshaws are available. For the fort reach at the gate by 9am so that you cover the places before noon. Or come at 4pm and return after the 'sound and light show' at 7pm.

This is the train station in Gwalior. I arrived here from Agra on the early morning Shatabdi Express (No.2002) train that comes down from Delhi and on to Bhopal. The journey from Agra only took an hour and 15 minutes. I took the same train out of Gwalior to Jhansi.

Gwalior is on the main Delhi-Bhopal railway line which makes the city a convenient stop if you come from Delhi/Agra and leaving for Jhansi/Orchha in the direction of Khajuraho. The best trains to take either direction are the Shatabdi or the Taj Express. Agra is 1,5 hours, Delhi is 3,5 hours, Jhansi is 1,5 hours away. These trains are the quickest and most cost-effective way of traveling to and from Gwalior and are comfortable and safe.

Gwalior lies about 76 miles (121km) south of Agra and about 200 miles (321km) from Delhi. The city is easy to reach from either city as it's located on the main Delhi-Bhopal railway line. Most people...

Gwalior was one of my favourite spots. It has a spectacular medieval hilltop fort and a quirky museum in the Jai Vilas Palace.... and the best bit of all... there wasn't another westerner to be seen....
