one can’t miss the spectacular view-points like the Sunset Point which besides offering great sunset views also presents lovely views of the surrounding forests and sometimes it’s also possible to see deers or catch a glimpse of a rare leopard.

Sayali Hotel, Amboli: Cheap & Neat, Amboli

RakeshKapadnis Says:  We made a deviation in our plan while going from Sawantwadi to Goa & decided to go for a night stay at Amboli. Since it was the last week of December, we were anticipating that all the hotels in Kokan & Goa would be packed. But Hotel Sayali came as a surprise. We got huge...

It is best advisable that take your own vehicle at Amboli because the points are at far distance. If you arenot traveling by your own vehicle, you can hire an auto (Rs 400/-) or a taxi (Rs 700/-). Its takes around 4- 41/2 hours to cover the 5-6 spots. The site seeing locations are Hiranyakeshi Temple - Small temple where the river Hiranyakeshi originates. Beautiful location but the approach road to the location is pathetic. Kavalesaad Point - Beautiful location with awesome view. Approach road here also is very bad. Other locations to be covered are Madhav Ghad (2.5 kms), Raghaweshwar (Maruti Mandir- 2 kms) and Nagarthas Fall (10 kms).

What to buy: The small Amboli market has many surprising things to offer. Since it is close to Sawantwadi which is famous for the manufacturing of wooden articles such as fruits, toys. All these items are available in the shops. In addition to that you can also buy local spices & famous Western Ghat Honey. I bought a wooden miniature motorcycle which is still flaunting in my drawin room.
