The phrase - 'city that never sleeps', goes right with the most-happening city of India, Mumbai. The sparkling conurbation gleams all the more in the hours of darkness, when lights illuminate and music reverberates in its streets. It's for sure that its rocking nightclubs would buoy up your bashing spirits. With the growing influence of western culture, copious numbers of nightclubs, discotheques, lounge and bars have turned up, enhancing the nightlife of Mumbai. Herewith, the nocturnal tourists have got a wide range of places to select from.
Besides the lounge parlors, discotheques entertain a big deal of night traffic in the city. You can hear the music of the perky DJs whilst swinging to their beats. Nightlife had always been active in Mumbai, but in the presence of silver-screen stars, leading millionaires and high-profile society, it has become even more happening. Lolling on low couch, seizing the soft cushions with soothing music and taking a sip of the premium liquor, doesn't that seem great? Yes, this and much more is awaiting you at the nightclubs of Bombay.

Well, I'm not really sure why they say Mumbai is the city that never sleeps because there is a curfew of 1:30 a.m. for bars and clubs. That being said, this is Mumbai and there are always exceptions to the rule. The clubs in hotels are allowed to stay open later and you will find other establishments that do ignore the rule.
Live Music Venues have become more popular and this is a list of some of the best:
Zenzi - 183 Waterfield Road, Bandra www.zenzi-india.com/
Blue Frog - Mathuradas Mills Compound, NM Joshi Marg, Lower Parel bluefrog.co.in/cms/home.html
Hard Rock Cafe - Bombay Dyeing Mill Comound, Pandu Rung Budhkar Marg, Worli
Not Just Jazz by the Bay - 143 Marine Drive , Soona Mahal
Rouge - Rizvi Mahal Bldg, Nr Bhabha Hospital, Bandra (West)

It is said that Mumbai is a city that never sleeps! The reason for this is that the nightlife of the city is so hot and so pulsating that you will have to go for days without sleeping for enjoying it fully. Even then, it is quite impossible to visit each and every happening nightclub, discotheque, bar and pub in the city in a single visit. You can go out any time of the night and you will see Bombay glittering with lights and the streets and night clubs teeming with people. Infact, the happening nightlife of the city is what attracts many tourists here.

The most famous gay nightclub in Mumbai is Voodoo which is along Arthur Bunder Road in the Colaba area. Entrance makes it look more like a sleazy sex-joint. Gets exceptionally crowded on Saturdays. Best avoided if you are claustraphobic as there seems to be no ventilation but plenty of smoke.

Mumbai has plenty of party spots with the most popular being Insomnia(Taj Mahal Hotel), Athena and Polly Esther's to name a few. Because these clubs are frequent by Mumbai's elite socialites, coincidentally, the cover charge goes up too. Expect to pay up to Rs1000 for cover charge alone and it is a must that you dress to impress in order to get in. If you are lucky enough, you may also be dancing right beside a Bollywood star! There are other cheaper places to have a drink around the Colaba area although you may need to ask around for directions.
