If you feel like having a pizza, reach Churchgate Station and soon after the Tea Centre, the first restaurant cooking pizza is the place for you... sorry I cannot remember the name but its pizza was really good: I even made compliments to the cooks behind the pizza counter as their pizza dough was in the perfect Italian style. And... you can choose an Indian topping for it: simply order the Indian pizza which is with chicken and of course chilli pepper! Since when I had read aadil's tip about Jimmy Boy Parsi restaurant, I had told him that the day I would have gone to Mumbai, he had to bring me there... The food is served on a banana leaf like during Parsi wedding and as my host seemed to have a freemasonry relationship with the owner of the restaurant :-P, we also got the special pot they use during wedding to make you wash your hands after eating... For those who want to know about my mention of freemason, wouldn't you think the same if you stand up from your seat at the table trying to go and offer the meal and the owner, who had never turned once to aadil nor he to him, tells you that everything is already done and he only wants you to sign his guests book...???? The owner I'm speaking about is the one in my pic with his guests book on his left and the meal here was definitely my best one in Mumbai!!!!
I would heartily advice the non veg. Lagan Nu Bhonu menu: Saas ni Macchhi OR Patra ni Macchhi OR Tareli Macchhi - they are all various fish dishes served in different sauces Salli Margi - chicken with a gravy and peppered with thinly grated fried potatoes, the Salli OR Margi Na Farcha - battered chicken pieces fried in eggs Chicken or Mutton Pulao with Dhansak Dal - meat dishes Leave a Comment Theme: IndianAddress: Vikas Bldg., 11, Bank StreetPhone: +91 (0)22 227700880 / 22662503Directions: opposite State bank of India - Hornimon Circle, Fort

Long before Gregory David Roberts wrote his magnum opus called "Shantaram", Leopolds was a famous Mumbai institution. He still holds court here. Not only is the restuarant downstairs a great place for breakfast, lunch or dinner. There is a cool bar area upstairs, with comfortable seats, low lighting and icy air-con. The bar area in particular is popular with the local crowd. We spent New Years Eve here in 2006, and it was packed with partying revellers, foreign and local. It was a fun evening. Downstairs area has checked tablecloths, round tables and comfortable chairs. The service is sometimes a bit erratic, depending on time of day. Breakfast & lunchtime is very busy. Leopolds is also a great pit-stop after a hectic bout of sight-seeing. The fruit juices are fresh and icy cold. Being a great meeting place for travellers, Leopolds has many souveniers on offer-Tee shirts, caps & nick-nacks, all displaying the Leopolds Logo. The food is standard fare- we ate many breakfasts here, and lunches too. The menu is somewhat eclectic- think fried eggs & tomoto with baked beans done Indian Style. The food is, however, tasty and fresh., and the toast for breakfast is ALWAYS perfect. Menus are under glass on each table.
I love the breakfasts. eggs done any way- fresh toast with "RED" jam Pastas Leave a Comment Theme: OtherPrice: less than US$10 » Currency ConverterComparison: less expensive than averageDirections: Colaba Causeway

Tendulkars is not only a great place to eat. It houses a treasure of cricket memorabilia, depicting the sporting achievments of the legendry "little master"- Sachin Tendulkar. The restuarant is owned by him. The museum collection displays items such as the bat given to him by Don Bradman and `World Cup 2003' cricket memorabilia, which includes the `Man of the Tournament Trophy', the `I Can WE Can' poster that was signed by the Indian Cricket Team before every match they played, his lucky orange socks and more. The restuarant is very modern, with a comfortable seating area surrounding the dining area.Air-conditioned, it was beautifully cool on the very warm day that we had lunch there. The service was excellent, and our waiter, who could speak about 6 languages, gave us not only good service- he also gave us some excellent ideas of things to do and see in Mumbai. The food was delicious- something for every taste. My husband had tomato soup, followed by (believe it!!) a VEGETARIAN PASTA!! I was only a bit more adventurous- I had vegetable biryani, aloo mattar ( a potato dish) and a salad (crispy fresh, and loaded with nuts) This was followed by dessert- which was as usual, our absolute favourite- Kulfi. There is an extensive wine list .
Kulfi- similar to ice cream, but more solid. It comes in different flavours, we prefer Pistachio. The texture was perfect. Flavour divine. Leave a Comment

Bhelpuri is a snack you must try when you are in Mumbai. Get to Chowpatty Beach and try the variety of bhelpuris there and it goes well with the beach. Found some description of bhelpuri from the net and here goes : "Puffed rice forms the base of the bhel. To this finely cut tomatoes, onions and chillies are added. To this some chutneys are added to give it a sweet or spicy flavour. Sev, a chick-pea based topping is sprinkled and garnished with coriander leaves. It is then served with toasted puris, (a wheat based bread, deep fried). The result is a sour/pungent/sweet taste. It is customary to wash down the bhelpuri with a serving of panipuri, a chaat."
I will be describing the 3 types of bhelpuri I tried at Chowpatty Beach. It a must-eat at Chowpatty. The one you see in this picture is my favourite. I think this is known as panipuri. This chaat didn't come in with "complete" round shells. In fact, each of the shell wss chipped off at the top and they are filled with some fillings of chickpeas. And to complete the dish, yogurt was poured onto the "stuffed" shells. Well, I am feeling really hungry will I recall how it tasted like. I was said Barista is a coffee shops chain and compared to India prices it was expensive but its chocolate cake (59 rupee = about 1 euro a slice) was gorgeous and my cafe mocha with whipped cream (50 rupee = about 0.90 euro) seemed with perfectly made Italian coffee so if are a coffee addict, enter one of these shops, it's also perfect if you need a relaxing stop when you are tired of walking or outside the tropical sun is too hot... There is lots to say about the Tea Centre as it can be a place for breakfast, dinner, a nice cup of tea - it has a yummy choice of sweet stuff to come with the tea - for a snack, for buying tea in the nearby shop... It's a place with a refined atmosphere but not high-falutin (just in case you had linked this impression to my use of refined ;-)...) and of the four times I entered it, for three of them an extra kind lady with such a welcoming smile was at the entrance to head you to your table.
A main dish like Gosht Hariyal (mutton with a green gravy), Macchi Rai Tamatar (fish in tomato sauce) costs 135-155 rupee (2-3 euros) and a delicious dessert, mine was a local fruit soufflé, 50 rupee (less than 1 euro), about 350 rupee (6 euros) for a whole meal with for example Dal Tadka (lentil gravy), Raita (don't forget it, if you want an help for the too hot food), Chapatti (local bread), dessert and drinks. For the India average it's an expensive place but Mumbai is more expensive than other towns and so is this restaurant compared to others anyway it's really worth it. With the tea, if you have a sweet tooth like me, you can choose scones, served with jam and cream, or an apple pie or a chocolate cake and if you prefer a saulty snack, you can order a very nice mixed fry, only pay attention not to bite (I did and not on purpose!!!) a chilli pepper: it's the thinnest and longer of the vegetables covered with a watery dough and fried. And for the tea lovers you can get fine tippy golden flowery Orange Pekoe that you find on the menu as pure Darjeeling FTGFOP, pure Assam leaf tea, green tea, Oolong tea, Nilgiri, tea, Kashmiri Kawha tea, flavoured teas and a tea pot considered for two is enough also for three - infact on the menu you can choose among a single cup, a teapot for two or for six. In Mumbai, you can get good tea with snacks in a nice air-conditioned environment at the Tea Centre in Churchgate area. There is even live music by the blind pianist. The food there is towards the more high-end one.
The Tea Centre serves all types of Indian tea and you will be spoilt of choices. There is also a long list of snacks for you to choose from. I tried their samosa and apple pie. Jaffer Bhai's Delhi Darbar is a take-away joint. The boss, Jaffer Bhai owns a chain of takeaways. It is a non-vegetarian takeaway and it serves all types of food. Its menu is impressive and usually you will not know what to order. A well-known dish, according to its brochure is the signature mutton briyani. We bought this on the way to Aadil's place. The next dish as well. Their Mughlai dishes, as well as desserts are really delicious.
Mutton Roast - Rs. 70 Tandoori Roti - Rs. 10 Mutton Roast : A soup-base curry dish with lots of chuncky and juicy mutton. Best eaten with Indian bread. A bit saltish if you eat it on its own. Tandoori Roti : A thick Indian bread served with curries. Usually eaten in the North. The roti is baked in the tandoor oven.
