Tavaa is more known for being an Indian Mughlai than a Chinese restaurant in the heart of Bandra. The atmosphere is simply comfortable. You can choose to sit at regular tables and chairs, or at their big round table crosslegged on cushions. In addition to enjoying their excellent food, you can also just chill and smoke the hooka. You can sit inside (very rustic) or outside. We chose the outside - it's not an outside in the traditional style, but the restaurant is separated from the street via a wooden wall that does not quite reach the ceiling. So one is separated from the street, but is still able to observe what's going on outside. We went there for dinner and ordered a variety of dishes, all of which were extremely tasty. Service was also good, and the place is clean.
Tavaa provided also perfect cover from being caught in the monsoon with no available rickshaw in sight. We enjoyed a Falooda and waited for the rain and the bustling on the streets to simmer down a little.
The menu includes:
Kabab, vegetarian, sandwiches, chinese, gravies, rice-dishes, excellent milkshakes, and much more...
Opening hours: noon - midnight
Favorite Dish: Chicken Tikka Masala with Parathas & Butter Nan, Bhuna Gosht, Kebabs, and salads - soooo nice !!!! Tavaa-special Falooda
From Wikipedia:
Falooda is basically vermicilli made of starch of corn and water, which is cooked and then cold pressed. it is a major ingredient in a dish termed the same with the addition of kulfi and flavoured syrup. Falooda is a South Asian refreshment drink made by using milk, vermicelli, sabja/takmari, tutti frutti and sugar along with huge amounts of ice cream. The popular flavours in which falooda is available include rose, mango, chocolate, fig, and many others.

Favorite Dish: The Noorani's Restaurant has ended to be the last tip only because I had here my good bye meal before the flight to Europe but if you like biryani, it's the place for you.
I tasted excellent mutton biryani, chicken biryani and the butter chicken with rotis - the trick is to take each one a different dish and share them.
For starter masala papads and for dessert the firni (made of milk, sugar and rice).

Since when I had read aadil's tip about Jimmy Boy Parsi restaurant, I had told him that the day I would have gone to Mumbai, he had to bring me there...
The food is served on a banana leaf like during Parsi wedding and as my host seemed to have a freemasonry relationship with the owner of the restaurant :-P, we also got the special pot they use during wedding to make you wash your hands after eating...
For those who want to know about my mention of freemason, wouldn't you think the same if you stand up from your seat at the table trying to go and offer the meal and the owner, who had never turned once to aadil nor he to him, tells you that everything is already done and he only wants you to sign his guests book...????
The owner I'm speaking about is the one in my pic with his guests book on his left and the meal here was definitely my best one in Mumbai!!!!
Favorite Dish: I would heartily advice the non veg. Lagan Nu Bhonu menu:

Fancy shmancy, cha cha eatery and watering hole located behind the Taj. BOLLYWOOD DHABA can be fun, provided there is a good crowd. Food is good, but portions are meager by Bomay standards - but then it is a fancy pace anyway. Waitstaff can be pushy if you do not order enough, they kept pressuring me about ordering booze and meat and I finally let them have it.

When I went for a walk around Crawford Market area in Mumbai, I stopped by chance in this Mughlai (North India) muslim restaurant. It's not for tourist, I had a wonderful biryani, naan and sessert for about 50 Rs. A ggod meal for a wonderful price. Look for it just in front of the Crawford Market Building, heading north.

This is a 3-tier restaurant with great service (but one cannot have the luxury of space in the lower tier)
Favorite Dish: Murgh Makhani a.k.a butter chicken. Tastes best with a roomali roti / garlic naan and roasted papad.
