Juhu beach is perhaps one of the most shallowest beaches you can see anywhere in the world. Unlike the Marina Beach in Madras, you can actually walk without wear in Juhu beach for quite a bit. The waves are gentle as there is no strong undercurrent. Juhu is a very leisurely beach which is in total contrast to life in Bombay. After a day in the city, you would almost feel like time has come to a standstill when you are at this beach.

I had Bhelpuri,:)) so yummyyyyyyy ,after it was good tasteing only i took the pic :).
The display too beautiful&colorful isn't?!
Juhu beach itself you can see many shops selling Bhelpuri.I was told by friend who is from Mumbai at Evening you wont get place to stand there. It will be all busy, when evening people comes to Beach. So my suggestion is ,anyone goes there you must eat one of the Bhelpuri. It will be spicy, dont forget to ask less chilly.

Address: Juhu beach
Juhu beach is one of famous hangout for Mumbai people.
If you expect can swim&relax, then will be disappointed.I went to evening time,it was so crowded, its just look like market.:))
Side full of Belpuri shops, selling mouthwatering all type of puris,
and one side small vendors selling sea shells, souvenirs etc.
Water looks dirty,i dint remove my shoes:) at all.If anyone is going to Goa or other beaches can skip Juhu :)But around Mumbai so many beautiful beaches are there, with less crowed.

At night and saturdays is when this Mumbai beach gets full of life and animation. As it is not a place for swimming (at least I wouldn't do it!!), you can go there at sunset and enjoy the food stands, fair attractions and people walking up and down the beach for a nice evening.
Try the Bhel Puri & Kulfi at the beach restaurants.

Both these are excellent, safe suburban beaches, linked by a rocky headland and accessed across a small creek from mainland Mumbai. The Gorai creek barge looks like a jalopy but is sturdy and serviceable. On the other side, Manori beach is a ten minute rickshaw ride away, fringed with swaying palm trees and a row of beachside cottage hotels. The most famous of these is Manori Bel, a cluster of white washed spanish-style villas with clean bright rooms and charming wicker furniture. Some of the houses in Manori village also double as hotels where you can dump your belongings and order lunch before heading for the beach. Nearby Gorai is more downmarket but less expensive. The shacks for rent here are usually occupied by illicit couples or rowdy picnic groups and the beach is full of dodging balls and flying frisbees. Still, the sand is relatively clean and the water inviting.

Situated 30 km from the city, this crowded beach with residential apartments and bungalows seems to contain the entire population of the area. The central part has food stalls, similar to Chowpatty. And a lot more, in terms of fun-rides for children.
Beyond the city are the relatively unspoilt, secluded beaches at Versova, Madh Island, Marve, Manori and Gorai. The beaches at Madh and Marve have their dangerous spots which are marked by signboards. The spots further ahead, Gorai and Manori, two fishing villages, are accessible by ferry.

This beach is not much during daytime, but when the afternoon comes toward an end, this beach starts to come lively. People from all over Mumbai gather here and there are all kinds of street vendors to buy snacks and ice-cream from.
We happened to be there during the Ganesh Chaturthi festival, on which people carry images of Ganesh into the sea. This festival always takes place in August/September.

Visit one or more of the numerous beaches OUT OF THE CITY. the city has a couple of crowded beaches. but there are better ones in Gorai, Madh Island, Manori, Kihim, etc. you can hire a car for the day. there are quite a few resorts too at such beaches.
clean water, less crowds

Address: near the city 20-30 kilometers
To enjoy the beaches one can go to Chowpatty, Juhu (not among the cleaner ones), Manori, Gorai. Although I must say Bombays beaches aren't among the finest in India, checkout Goa & Kerala for great beaches. Also visit markets like Crawford Market, Fashion Street, Chor Bazaar (beware shop owners may take you for a ride here). And for Art lovers visit the Jehangir Art Gallery, Prince of Wales Museum and National Gallery for Modern Art.

Apart from Juhu in the suburbs, Chowpatty is Mumbai's most famous beach. During the day, it is the hangout of the happily unemployed who snooze under the shade of its stunted trees. But in the evening the atmosphere is more like a carnival: kids screaming on Ferris wheels or taking pony rides, wayside astrologers making a quick buck, monkey shows, and even the odd self -styled gymnast who will demonstrate amazing yogic postures for a small fee. At one end is a row of bhelpuri shops hawking Mumbai's most popular snack: crisp puffed rice and semolina doused in pungent chutneys, all scooped up with a flat, fried puri. You might even catch a film shoot or a street play. In short, for most tourists Chowpatty is where the action is.
