Lovely Beach, great for a break from the urban nightmare (which I love) of Bombay.

THe place to be for Holi in Bombay if you dont get invited to Amiabh's party. I went to a party in a compound, but on the way there I was agressively pelted with paint and water, which I gave back - it was great fun and met lots of wonderful people that day.

The beach is lined by luxury hotels, apartment buildings and VIP homes. So funny to watch the guests of the hotels perring over the gates at the real world on the other side. They look like they are in jail.

Juhu beach is one of famous hangout for Mumbai people.
If you expect can swim&relax, then will be disappointed.I went to evening time,it was so crowded, its just look like market.:))
Side full of Belpuri shops, selling mouthwatering all type of puris,
and one side small vendors selling sea shells, souvenirs etc.

Water looks dirty,i dint remove my shoes:) at all.If anyone is going to Goa or other beaches can skip Juhu :)But around Mumbai so many beautiful beaches are there, with less crowed.

A nice place to spend your evenings. Even when you are alone, walking along this long beach will not bore you. As the sun sets, people start getting romantic. But because of the recent floods in Mumbai, the beach has become a little dirty. You will see lots of people jogging. This is a posh area of the city. So, many five star hotels are lined along the beach. And because of the International Airport being quite near, lots of airplanes will be seen circling overhead. I love having fried peanuts which is available in plenty here while strolling.

It's a pleasant beach if you're not expecting a quiet sunbathe or a swim. The real attraction here is the carnival atmosphere that develops on weekend afternoons and evenings.
Huge crowds paddle in the sea, stroll along the shore, play beach cricket and enjoy the fresh air. They're serviced by a mobile army of snack sellers and fruit vendors, entertained by fairground rides, and sweet talked by toy sellers, fortune tellers and yarn spinners.
During the rest of the week it only takes a short stroll from the hotel strip to be alone with your thoughts.

Juhu beach is one of the attractive beaches of Mumbai. This flat beach is located almost at center of the Mumbai town. There are many hotels located by the side of this beach and many have restaurants having sea view and one can get coffee here in all the times through out the day.
One of the main attraction of Juhu beach is Sunset. Plan your day long program to spend few hours at Juhu beach during Sun set time.
On the beach there are food stalls offering local dishes and these rows of small restaurants are popular among Mumbai people and in visitors also.

This beach can be easily reached by cab, auto and its near to local railway station. My hotel was just 5 mins walk from this beach and most of my evening I enjoyed walking on beach. It is famous for street foods ( Spicy mouth watering food from all parts of India ) and kids enjoying playing cricket and football. But not good for swimming or sun-bathing.

I saw few kids were making sculptures with sand which is really fun to watch. Few of them were good and few were beginners.

And even if who goes alone can enjoy walking on the beach and sunset is really good on this beach. And as sunset starts we can see love lorn and love birds enjoy these beach. I saw hardly any police interference to these love birds here, they were enjoying here.

And dont go till end where fishing boats are tied up. That area is in total mess, where you will find each every crap of mumbai city.

Its was fun and really soothing and refreshing spending some time away from noise and pollution of Mumbai city.

Situated 30 km from the city, this crowded beach with residential apartments and bungalows seems to contain the entire population of the area. The central part has food stalls, similar to Chowpatty. And a lot more, in terms of fun-rides for children.

Beyond the city are the relatively unspoilt, secluded beaches at Versova, Madh Island, Marve, Manori and Gorai. The beaches at Madh and Marve have their dangerous spots which are marked by signboards. The spots further ahead, Gorai and Manori, two fishing villages, are accessible by ferry.

Shortly after sunrise you will not be alone on this long stretch of sand beach. People coming for prayers, sport, play, picnic or simply have a walk, some even daring to swim in the Indian Ocean !

This is the my favourite picture from Mumbai !

There is a Barrista Coffee shop as well as "Coffee Day" Cafe next to the International Hotels. On a Sunday however they will only open after 10 am.

Juhu beach is perhaps one of the most shallowest beaches you can see anywhere in the world. Unlike the Marina Beach in Madras, you can actually walk without wear in Juhu beach for quite a bit. The waves are gentle as there is no strong undercurrent. Juhu is a very leisurely beach which is in total contrast to life in Bombay. After a day in the city, you would almost feel like time has come to a standstill when you are at this beach.

Juhu beach is the largest beach in Mumbai. At least 10 times bigger than Chowpatty beach. It is in the northern part of the city, and the area is very populated. There are many people on the beach at sunset and in the nights untill 10 PM. Small cafes and basic stalls are located many places on the beach, and people amuse themselves with different activities.

    Eating out in Juhu

by orix Written Mar 25, 2013

Juhu is a nice neighborhood where a lot of movie stars have their homes. The beach has a center for chaat and other street food, don't miss. Back on the main street there are also more upscale restaurants. Most action happens, as usual in Mumbai , in the evening. And of course, don't dream of swimming, the water are polluted.
