On the top of Malabar Hill the Pherozeshah Mehta Gardens, named the Hanging Gardens, and the Kamala Nehru Park with its relaxing, greenery atmosphere like the people sitting or taking a rest here wittness.
The gardens look south from Malabar Hill towards Colaba and are built over reservoirs of waters.
I would suggest to reach them by a four wheels mean of transport and then walk the way down.

Built in tiers atop the Malabar Hill Reservoir (some say to protect the water supply from debris scattered from the nearby Parsi Towers of Silence, a site where Zoroasterian dead are, according to their custom, left out for vultures) - therein lying the meaning of ‘Hanging Gardens’ - the Pherozeshah Mehta Gardens are an extremely popular meeting and picnicking spot for locals in a city starved for open, green spaces. There is a viewpoint from where you can look across the Back Bay towards the Fort and the heart of South Mumbai which could be very impressive on that rare clear day. It was more depressing when I visited with horrific smog minimizing the grandeur.

Oval Maidan is a large oval shaped park in the heart of South Bombay, bordered by Queen's Road on one side and Mayo Road on the other (now named Maharshi Karve Marg and Karmaveer Bhaurao Marg, respectively). Before the 1920s, the shore of the Arabian Sea bordered Oval Maidan and Queen's Road on the western side, but a land reclamation project extended the dry land all the way to Marine Drive, which was subsequently built up. This explains the stark contrast between the 19th century majestic Gothic buildings, the Bombay High Court and University of Bombay, east of Oval Maidan, and the colourful 1930s Art Déco residential buildings on the western edge of the park. Nowadays, Oval Maidan is a recreational ground for the residents of Bombay where impromptu cricket matches take place, particularly on weekends.

What was once the Bombay Greens, a large open space within the nonextant Bombay Fort, was developed into a circular urban park in the 19th century. Elegant curved Neoclassical buildings, reminiscent of the Royal Crescent in Bath, England, were constructed around the circle, while at the eastern end was the Asiatic Society building. The park was named Elphinstone Circle, after Bombay's governor at the time, but after India gained independence, the name was changed to Horniman Circle, in reference to Benjamin Horniman, the editor of a local newspaper who supported independence. The park within Horniman Circle is a peaceful respite from the crazy traffic of Bombay, planted with beautiful tropical plants, for anyone looking to get away from it all.

Powai Lake, one of nature's beautiful creations still retains some of its beauty midst the hustle and bustle of traffic and man made concrete jungle. Unperturbed by urban invasions that is increasingly tarnishing her beauty, the lake welcome every passer by with the hope that someone might help restoring her old charm and beauty.

  • This is a great view of Bombay. You can see the entire stretch of Marine Drive and its coast, the high rise buildings at Nariman Point and Cuffe's. There is a coffeshop there. Have some beer here (Kingfisher beer is not good though) and enjoy the view.

Take an evening stroll in the famous jogging park, located in the heart of the Bandra suburb. Beautifully designed, has a small pond with ducks and fishes. Very scenic as it is built on land reclaimed from the sea.
If you are lucky, you may spot a famous Bollywood film star.
