It's a fishing village. Why not fish? We had fun getting our line tangled up with some of the locals.

The first and formost activity of Murud is to visit Janjira Fort by sailboat from Rajpuri village. It costs 20 rupees for adults and 10 rupees for children. If you are inpatient you can go in your own boat for 600 rupees and not wait for 30 people to gather for a full boat.

How often do you get to enjoy a beach with hardly any people on it. Great place to relax after Mumbai (just don't all come at once!).

Murud is a sleeping fishing village 165Km south of Mumbai. We stopped off here for two nights on our way down. It has an impressive beach which is almost deserted. When we were there, there were 6 westerners including us.
Great place to relax for a day or two. Everyone is so friendly and will stop to say hello and have a
chat.
This was in January 2007 (the beginning of our trip)
