The Nagpur Airport terminal is presently a small building but it is being renovated into a modern airport facility very soon.

Cycle Rickshaws are the cheaper modes of transport for two persons at a time but most of the times you will find three persons seated in a place meant for two!!! The cycle rickshaw is not a very comfortable ride especially on bad roads and in hot or rainy weather. They are available in most places at almost all times. The fares have to be decided before you sit so that they don't rip you off at the end. Do bargain if you feel the price is too high.

Many bus routes to get around the city of Nagpur. Some of the new buses are better than the older ones and they are the cheapest mode of transport in the city. Destination names are mentioned only in the local language but if you ask anyone they will tell you which bus to take for your destination. The bus conductor will give you a ticket once you board the bus and also call out the name of your destination when it arrives.

The three wheeler auto rickshaws are a common sight in almost all cities of India and Nagpur is no exception. The auto rickshaw is meant for a maximum of three persons besides the driver and there is a fare meter which most drivers don't use so you have to fix the price before you board the auto. They do have a chart for some of the popular routes but that is just a eyewash. Do bargain before you fix the price or you may be ripped off.

To go to Markandeya Temple near Nagpur you have to go to Gadchiroli from where you need to go to Chamorshi and then onto Markandeya village for the famous temple. If you want to use the best route it is definitely the car but hiring one can be expensive. Another option is a bit tiring, cheaper and also takes much longer as it involves changing bus to shared Jeep or State Transport buses. The private buses operate at about three different timings in a day and the same bus returns in the evenings. The time it takes to reach Gadchiroli is about 3.5 hours The first bus leaves Nagpur at 10.30am and the last bus from Gadchiroli to Nagpur is at 6pm. The price is Rs.120 for a one way ticket. From Gadchiroli you have to take other modes of transport like the Jeep or ST bus to get to Markandeya Temple.

the transport system in this state is pathetic. the tourist is virtually at the mercy of the auto rickshaw drivers or the cycle-rickshaws( an inhuman form of transport of transport not seen much around nowadays!) both the categories overcharge to glory! a distance of mere 4 km would cost u anywhere from 40 to 80 rs! the same trip elsewhere would cost u a meagre rs 20! the govt seems to be least concerned. hardly any public transport. nobody as far as i know rents out bikes which u could drive around like they have in goa.
