Consultations with a friend whose family lives in Pune led me to this great thali joint, located on the ground floor of the Hotel Parichay. You will not see any foreigners here, nor will you hear any languages except Marathi, but you won't need words because this is a thali place--no menu, no waiting, all you can eat. Sit down, and immediately you will be inundated with serving after serving of fabulous, all-vegetarian Maharashtrian delights. Wash your hands, roll up your sleeve and dig in. The food is super, and as authentic as you will ever find.
Favorite Dish: It's all great, but keep your eyes open for the guy dishing out the okra salad. Wow.

Having a good meal, with beach sand under your feet, watching the sunset over the ocean and the little fishing boats coming in and out....what more could you ask for?!?
Favorite Dish: Cheese Naan Bread.......I can taste it, even just thinking about it! It comes freshly made out of the Tandori (wood) Oven. A good snack for anytime of the day!

Pune is very famous for a particular kind of biscuit(AKA cookie in America) called the Shoes-berry biscuit. Although the name doesn't make sense, it doesn't have any berries nor is it shaped like a shoe, it is delicious and absolutely awesome.. You must hurry though since they sell out by early afternoon. They are sold at a bakery called Kyani's. You can find them at other places too, but they are imitations.

This place is a classic among travellers and a perfect place to meet foreigners in Poona. Besides, they serve delicious pastry, lassi, tea, and several dishes for a quick meal. If you see people in red gowns, they are from the ashram. Around the cafe there are a lot of travel agencies, money exchange, souvenirs shops...
