Favorite thing: As the Jagannath Temple is only open to Hindu's, some wise guys have come up with a lucrative idea to offer non-Hindu's the chance to get a good view of the complex from an open veranda up some stairs in the Raghumandan Library that is located opposite the main entrance on Grand Road. Be warned that the library is closed between 1-4pm and that there is a 'donation' fee for viewing which is entered in a book. I gave Rs100 even though I read in Lonely Planet afterwards that Rs10 should suffice so bear this in mind.

Favorite thing: Yep, it's a French camper van! Couldn't quite believe my eyes when I saw it when I visited the beach for the first time. I actually saw a Spanish one in Varkala, way down south in Kerala, further into my journey, which is an awfully long way to come and crazy but good on them for doing so. I had a chat with the driver who told me stories of their journey from France including failed brakes whilst coming down the Himalayas from Nepal and denting the whole of the driver's side.
