You don't have to worry about getting up early to see the buying and selling of the days catch here. The fishermen seem to work around the clock and the women seem to be the ones who sell it after carrying baskets of fish along on their heads. The buyers then come along and inspect the catch and a small group gathers around to watch them conduct the deal.

I stayed at the eastern end of Puri beach not far from the fishing village that is located right on the beach. Here you can watch fisherman come and go in their boats to go fishing and bringing back the daily catch. Friends of mine who I met in Puri, went out on a fishing boat at 5am with some of them and they enjoyed it! Me, I don't do early to well!

One of the ritual offerings for pilgrims to bring to the Jagannath Temple are coins which can be found outside along the main Grand Road.
