Be sure to visit the Gold Temple after night, It is a different atmosphere and less crowded.
You can go after you return from the Pakistan Border flags lowering ceremony if you have limited time.

I arrived in Amritsar at about 5pm from McLeod Ganj after taking two buses. My first view of the Golden Temple was from my hotel roof and that night I went inside the complex and took these photo's. The Golden Temple itself is lit up at night and the gold reflects into the pool. For some reason the whole complex was packed with people wrapped in blankets lying on the floor around the main pool so they were set to sleep there overnight.

Amritsar is not a city for night owls.... Amritsaris only love to eat, drink and sleep... You can go to Balle Bowl where there is a small food court (4 counters - Dominos, Dim Sum (for Chinese / Thai / Indian and Continental food), Nexus Nizam (for Kathi Kababs) and for drinks you can have Beer, Breezer, Wine, Juices, Soft Drinks and Mocktails). If you head to level 2 of the building, you'll find a bolling alley, pool tables, a snooker table and few video games. But make sure you reach there before 11 as thats the last time for order.
Dress Code: Anything goes....
