You will be a minority over there but one that is still very much revered rather than discriminated against. Male visitors may be uncomfortable with a handshake and might, instead, prefer to touch the outside of your knee as a mark of respect.
Try not to wink, particularly at women or children. It has a more sexual connotation than it does in the West.
Some tourist places differentiate between Indian visitors and non-Indian. Admission prices can be markedly different. Please observe them as mark of respect.
When visiting Temples expect to remove your footwear and wear something on your head as a mark of respect. Head cloths are freely available at a nominal price. You will be offered something to eat which is a mixture of butter and sugar.
