    Handi Restaurant: Handi Restaurant

by Carino Written May 11, 2007

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

We have heard and read so much about that restaurant that we just wanted to check it out. The interiour is nice, staff doesn't really care about their guests and the crowd is half Indian, half Tourists.

Favorite Dish: I had a spicy Mushroom Peas Curry (Rs 120) with Garlic Nan (Rs 28). The food was excellent! FYI: Water comes at Rs 30, Lassi at Rs 40. I'd say it was a great experience, but.... this night was the only night that I was sick.... I don't think it was the food, though. Rather a sun stroke. So I still recommend that place.

The Palace Cafe is a multi cuisine restaurant in City Palace. The menu is made up of mainly regional and Indian vegetarian and non-vegetarian specialties. There are some specialty dishes from the Far East as well. The courtyard offers alfresco dining as well. The cafe is situated in the Sawai Mansingh II Museum.

The Cocoon Guest House and Rooftop Restaurant: A tranquil refuge from the bustling city streets

by Waxbag Written Dec 2, 2005

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Cocoon is a great restaurant that's away from the bustle of Jaipur. The service is good and the menu is extensive and equally good. The Indian and Chinese is better than the continental but this has been the case with nearly all Indian restaurants. They also serve the cheapest beer we have seen in India for 75 rupees.

    Favorite Dish: Superb food
    Fast internet
    Relaxing music
    Splendid atmosphere
    Good service
    Beer available

Roadside Fish Curry: Roadside Fish Curry

    by l_joo Updated Feb 28, 2005

20Rs only to eat at the roadside of Jaipur. This is dinner, I meant this this the best dinner in India so far. The location is at the roadside of Sindi Camp Bus Station. Many bus drivers come to eat here, they drink liquor while enjoying the fish. I ate the fish with curry and 5 pieces of chapati with rice, all for 20Rs only, the best.

Laxmi Misthan Bhandar (LMB): India's Best Lassi

by TomorrowsAngel Written Feb 11, 2005

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Pass through the chaotic sweetshop and into the serene breezy restaurant. It appears to have been recently renovated in an 'out-there 80s' theme.
The waiters speak good English, and remember your face if you come back a year or two later. Food is served promptly and they keep the water poured and hot pooris coming.

Favorite Dish: The cuisine is strictly Brahman (no onion or garlic are used in preparation), but pickled onions are served as an accompaniment, for those who choose to partake, and no meat or alcohol are allowed on the premises.
I can recommend the samosas, kachoori and sweet lassi (comes with topped with fresh curd, and the drink is lightly flavoured with rose - yum).
This lassi would have to be my favourite (second place goes to makhani lassi in Jodhpur).

    Jaipur Restaurants: Two Budget Restaurants

by NedHopkins Written Jan 18, 2005

    1. Jaipur Darbur Hotel: Restaurant

    2. Rainbow Restaurant

Portions were large in both restaurants: I couldn't finish either main dish.

At the Darbur a fiddler played as a five- or six-year-old boy danced for the tourists. A group of about 20 Japanese took pictures and tipped the fiddler; I didn't take pictures and I didn't tip him -- though I suppose the child was not being so grossly exploited as he might have been.

    Favorite Dish: 1. Darbur Hotel
Chicken curry, rice, mineral water, coffee: 240 rupees (about US$5.60).

    2. Rainbow
South Indian thali, banana lassi: 140 rupees (about US$3.25).

    hmm: divine thaali

    by j-san Updated Dec 5, 2003

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Favorite Dish: This was part of a tour and there were plenty of other tourists at the same place... when in doubt and rather hungry then just order a thali. A thaali is a metal plate, with bowls arranged on top here you can see, from bottom right going anti-clockwise: a rice and veggie dish, a paneer (cheese) dish, a lentil dish, a vegetable dish, curd, a sweet and a salad in the middle. It all tasted wonderful, each little dish totally unique! Had some favorite garlic naan on the side.
