Strange complex!
Jantar Mantar is referred as a set of constructions used to astrological observation, but, nowadays, it is difficult to understand the purpose and use of each element.
Jantar Mantar is a series of large scale astronomical observation instruments built by Maharaja Singh in 1727
These sundials are inclined at 27 degrees and represent the two hemispheres. They calculate time by following the solar cycle.
Each star sign is represented by its own 'sculpture'.
Here my mother is sitting by her own star sign - Aries.
Each construction has a specific purpose, such as measuring the position of stars, celestial latitudes and longitudes, or calculating eclipses.
This Observatory was built by Jai Singh in 1728...it looks weird...but must have been 'cutting edge' at the time.
