Also, situated on The Mall is Barista. Similar to an Indian Starbucks. So, if you like Starbucks, you will like this. It has much less character than the Indian Coffee House but the coffee, the food are more "western" and slightly more expensive.
It does have some interesting slogans on posters on the wall,
"Drugs, Racism. Outside food. Just some of the things we`re strongly against."
"The only things we should - INHALE HERE - is the aroma of fresh coffee."
"In the old days, to get a cup of coffee you`d have to smuggle coffee from Arabia at the risk of death. Now all you have to settle for is self-service." (you serve yourself).

This is a very traditional Coffee House steeped in ambiant character. The coffee comes as coffee should. Simply coffee. No mochas and cinnamon supplements.
You are served by traditional Indian coffee wallahs its a great place to grab a coffee and/or breakfast. The place is very much in the traditional of those old fashioned coffee house where conversation and lazy days are encouraged.
Part of the Indian Coffee Workers Co-operative Society, it is thought that coffee houses such as these were used by Indian revolutionaries to hatch plots against the British. They were served their coffee for free. Allegedly.
Regardless of this, the coffee is excellent. I can also recommend the omelete - one of the best I had in India.
Favorite Dish: The coffee is excellent. Very strong and authentic.
In addition to this try the omeletes and french toast. Very tasty.

The temperature is minus 3. I only hv 2 nights in Shimla, so I brave the cold to view the small town. I spotted this small restaurant near Lakkar Bazaar. My son ordered Special Thali (vegetarian rice) and myself, buttered chappati with dhal and curry. Yummy !!! But the best was their chai, served hot and creamy (fresh cow milk). The best chai that I've ever tasted my whole life.
Favorite Dish: Special Thali (only Rs40) - White rice with 3 dishes (very tasty)

We stayed in Shimla for 3 days. On the mall road we found a very good resto ''Nalini''. It's a multicuisine restaurant. One can have soups, salads, pizzas, sandwitches, south indian dishes, mughalai dishes, desserts, beverages at very affordable price.Service is very quick and food quality is also very good.
Favorite Dish: All kind of dosas an uttapam
