Kunga Restaurant at Thangu: Hot Tea & Hot Noodles at 12900 Feet:
On way to Gurudongmar we stopped for tea and breakfast at Kunga Restaurant at Thangu 12900 Feet. The temperature was about -6 or -7 degrees Celcius, that's what Army people told us. The butter could not melt and the bread was hard it had to be softened by a pressure cooker! Our briver bought us a jam, we had to settle for tea, bread and jam as the restaurant was full of other tourists going to Gurudongmar!This is perhaps one of highest place of the world and the last restaurant of North Sikkim. They provided us hot chimney and hot tea on arrival. We again stopped on return and had tea. At that temperature that tea was like necter!Apart from tea and breakfast they also keep all sorts of provisions including liquor for the tourists, at a bit extra price.
