This is old Lord Krishna temple, the orignally build by Pallavas ie the 8 the century. It was
occupied at various times in16th,17 centuries by Golconda,Dutch, and French.
One of the big&old temple in Chennai.
This is one of the most visited Divya Desam, the temple is big as 1.5 acres, and had 2 prakarams.
Infont of the temple there is big temple tank ,once there were lot of lilly flowers used to be there.Even though the temple tank is near seashore, you can't find any fish in this water .Old times this tank water was used for "pooja".Now :( its not very clean watter.

Its famous temple in city, evening will be crowded.I love to visit this temple.:). Inside photography is not allowed.

Chennai Beach (or Marina Beach) is one of India's longest, running along 13km the city's coastline. It's a decent route to walk from the War Memorial to the San Thome church (very nice!). Move a couple of blocks inland from there and you'll find yourself at the Kapaleeswarar Temple, which I highly recommend visiting.

The beach is often crowded and very littered though. . .

My basic knowledge of the Hindu pantheon of gods is that Vishnu is the one who carries a conch shell (along with an ax, mace and a spinning disc in his other three hands). But this figure is clearly not Vishnu, so I'm stumped. If anyone can enlighten me, please do. . . :-)

South of Fort St. George, along Chennai Beach, you'll encounter Anna Park. The small, green park contains a memorial to a former chief minister of Tamilnadu.

In comparison to the rest of the beach, this is a startlingly clean little patch of land, obviously well supervised and maintained. It's worth popping in for a stroll. . .

This temple is a fantastic example of Dravidian architecture ~ this is what comes to mind whenever I picture southern Hindu temples. The brightly painted plaster sculptures are breathtaking. . .and the layout inside the temple grounds is like a small town itself.

The Meenakshi Temple in Madurai is even more incredible. . .but my photos from Chennai turned out much better.

    What is Medical Tourism?
What's called medical tourism - patients going to a different country for either urgent or elective medical procedures - is fast becoming a worldwide, multibillion-dollar industry

    Why Tamilnadu?
Good medical services are available in the state along with good tourist attractions. This has recently spurred a new wave of medical tourism. Costs and waiting periods in developed world are very high for some of the major medical and dental procedures. As consumers are becoming aware of the high quality of these procedures in India, insurance has started covering them and hence the flow of these medical tourists has increased in Tamil Nadu and elsewhere.

Beside this in India especially in Eastern India and Central India medical facilities are there but very expensive along with this medical ethics is missing sometime, wrong diagonosis, cheating the patients has led to patients going to South for treatment. The city of Chennai has one of the best medical facilities in the world and the experts. The Legendary Apollo Hospital started by Dr.P.C.Reddy is now world famous. It has several branches in India offing treatment like Heart Transplantation, Liver Transplantation and complex surgeries. Incidentally I bumped into Dr.P.C.Reddy one day while he was waiting to board in his Mercedese, he was kind enough to ask about us and Rakhi's health problems and the kind of facilities he was offering. He also asked about our satisfaction level. We were thorughly flabbergasted by such humble person, who is one of the richest person and pioneer of medical facilities of India!

Christian Medical Collage, Vellore is one more glaring example, whose diagonosis is almost failure free an accurate. Treatment is cheap there.

Not only these all South Hospitals are now famous for accurate and affordable treatment.

See the picture of govt. run Chennai General Hospital, it's treatment and cleanliness will put to shame any Calcutta hospital.

The temple in Chennai is dedicated to Lord Shiva (the Destroyer in the Hindu triad). Shiva is known by over 1000 names ~ one of the most popular is Kapaleeswarar (or skull lord). . .

  • Yah! I would like to suggest U the restaurant
Vikram......a few steps from the Chennai Central!

I didn't miss out the lunch and dinner....as long I was there.

Also visit Marina beach, the second longest in the world, running for 12km from Chennai harbour in the north to Santhome (St. Thomas) church in the south, joining the Elliot quieter beach extending upto Adyar's residential colony.

If U like hill stations....then Ooty is a must... Ooty/Udagamandalam (hill station) -- 105 km from Coimbatore.

It is the capital of the Nilgiri district and is known as the 'Queen Of Hill Stations'. The highest peak - Doddabetta.

Attractions - Doddabetta, Ooty Lake, Deer Park, Rose garden, St. Stephens Church and Botanical Gardens. Best time to visit.....Feb to Mar and Sep to Oct.

I really like the culture and tradition of South India....and just to roam around the places lazily to observe the local people and their daily life.

Though I hardly got a chance to visit any of the famous places there...I would refer U to visit Golden Beach!

We took a car and moved all the way from Triplicane to the Golden Beach. Going to new places and trying to learn a new language is really very exciting.

U can take an auto or a cab and move around the city...and I can assure.......that U will enjoy the journey!!!
