We landed up here at ten in the night, hungry and ready to eat away to glory, surprises of surprises all of us got exactly what we liked! I had my standard plate of macaroni and cheese, AJ had a nice sizzler, parents had pukka north indian food and my sis had a great bowl of icecream!
Sadly this place has now been CLOSED DOWN!! There is a new building being raised there..will wait to see if New Yorkers makes a come back there!! :(
Favorite Dish: Sizzlers- One of the best in Chennai!

Most of the Cafe Coffee Day Outlets (India's equivalent of a Starbucks) are generally noisy and teeming with teenagers. However the CCD Lounge in Khader Nawaz Khan Road is a fairly nice place for others to relax, grab a coffe and a bite to eat and relax. The ambience is ideally to just sit back and relax- hence a review in VT was warranted :-)
Favorite Dish: The veggie platter is quite nice and ofcourse the cold coffees!

As their tagline suggests, this is a restaurant that serves 'food with a difference'. Despite being a hard core south indian, they have some items on the menu that I have never had anywhere else! The chef comes highly recommended, having been not only felicitated by the President of India but also having served at the President's House. Chef Jacob has researched extensively on South Indian Cuisine and designed this menu to delight our taste buds! I know that both vegetarians and non-vegetarians have enjoyed the food here! :-)
We have been to this restaurant more than 5 times in tha last couple of months, that's how much we have enjoyed th efood and the ambience! It is for those who do not like to hurry through their dinner and instead spend quality time appreciating the flavors of the food! :-)
Favorite Dish: We loooove this started called 'Sutta Vazhaikka' which roughly translates to mean 'Grilled Plantain/Raw Banana'. The sprinkling of cheese adds so much to the dish! :-) Unbelievably good!

We headed here for a weekday buffet and the food was surprisingly good! I have never had too much of an experience at any of the Taj hotels when it comes to food. So I headed in pretty much skeptical about why we needed to spend all this money on a lunch. but Taj Connemera with it's quaint restaurant by the pool really was a pleasant surprise. The food was sumptuous and infact it took me a lot of effort to stop eating...!!
Favorite Dish: The desserts were out of this world, they had a 'baked yoghurt' that was too good to believe! Also the Indian burfi's and bengali sweets was amazing. I thoroughly regretted over eating the main course otherwise would have helped myself to more desserts from the spread they had on offer

An upscale fabulous high end Italian/Thai resturant in sleek sophisticated setting. Food is always shockingly delicious. No teeny portions here..Great for date night. The wood grilled entrees are beyond yummy and the pastas are definitely rib sticking. The dining experience at Azzuri was excellent. I strongly recommend the Thai tea, one of the best mocktails I've ever had!
The staff is incredibly friendly.A great place for a special occasion.A great meal in a trendy atmosphere.
All the very best!! Cheers.

Indians will probably understand when I say 'Indian Chinese' food... we have our own version of chinese food, replete with indian spices and masalas! One restaurant we like heading to is Shogun on OMR for a nice spicy dinner. It won't be too crowded so thats a plus and it has ample prking outside.
Favorite Dish: Schezwan fried rice and gobi manchurian

We were shopping in Ispahani Center when as usual I felt very hungry. AJ remembered that there was a vegetarian restaurant on the other side of the road that served some yummy 'vada' (More like a crispy savory doughnut) so we headed to Palmgrove. Turns out he was absolutely right!! The vada sambar was awesome! Soon I realized i tbelonged to a group of hotels called Balal Residency that also had a branch in Bangalore and so we ended up having the 'meals'- a fixed menu lunch! I must confess the meals wasn't as nice as the vada, but the service was very nice and quick! SO we will surely keep going back here! :-)
Favorite Dish: Sambar Vada for sure!

For my father-in-law's birthday we decided to head to Annalakshmi Restaurant- it was something he'd been asking for a long time. Going by the name we expected it to be one of the older restaurants in Chennai but turns out that unlike it's derilict exterior the restaurant is actually quite hep and very nice!
This restaurant has it's origins in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Started by a 'swami' who was spreading the Hindu doctrines, it continues with the act of sustenance of the 'Temple of Arts'. Most of the people who serve at this restaurant are all volunteers and truly treat the diners with a lot of respect and courtesy! The experience is interesting and intriguing!
The decor was something we greatly appreciated, complete with a statue of the deity Annalakshmi (Goddess of plenty) right upfront, the temple-like look and feel is very comforting. The queues are unbelievable so please do reserve a table in advance for yourselves! And do be warned you are served only vegetarian food here.
Favorite Dish: We went for the buffet and really enjoyed the Cashew Pakora, Gulab Jamoon with Icecream and the Sambar! Overall the food was simply amazing and definitely a must do again!

The best thing about Sangeetha's chain of restaurant is that you can be assured of prompt service and great food! The one in Adyar is especially nice since it also offers valet parking..anyone who has been to Chennai will appreciate how precious that add on is! ;-)
Head straight to the a/c rooms on the first floor to protect yourself from the heat and sweat! :-)
Favorite Dish: I love the fixed menu or 'meals' as they are popularly called in Chennai. Even the Masala Dosas (Crispy savory crepes) is amazingly tasty! :-)
