let me describe some "hot" food outlets...

Soth indian food is ofcourse the typical food of this region. they come in great color and varieties. this is something you shouldn't miss.
Hotel chains like saravana bhavan are highly rated there. There are loads of such restaurants in places like T.nagar and mount road. Dont forget to check out the strong southie coffee.

Although the north indian food is not said to be as good as whats there in the north...there are some places as good as it gets. Outlets like dhabba express, the dhaba provide authentic northie food.

There are cool hang out and fast food joints like planet yum, shakes and creams, spencers etc.

yeah yeah..u getthe pizzas and the burgers as well..you have all major international vendors like mcdonalds and pizza hut. You get other continental types as well. for instance..."Rice bowl" is a chinse restaurant.

I ate mostly at my hotel, which served a buffet meals and had a nice sit down restaurant. The best time out was when we went to were the locals eat. My friends were polite enough to use spoons at my table, but the others used there hands only! If you get tired of curry try Wimpi's. They server vegi burgers and french fries!

This food is nice to taste. To me get use already in Malaysia and Singapore ( Close to Sultan's Mosque ) for this kind of food. Easily found at Indian's Restaurant. Its comprise of Rice, Sambar, Rasam, Olan, Kaalan and Pachadi..vegeterian food. Tasteful and cheap for Hitch Hiker like me.

Lots of good eateries at hotels but for a posh meal try the Residence at the Park Sheraton Hotel or at the other end try Tikka Time for an excellent value take-away indian meal. Benjarong, the Thai restaurant near the Park Sheraton, is good. But remember south India is dry so no alcohol except in hotels.

Favorite Dish: Chicken butter masala or Aloo gobi from Tikka Time.
Anything at the Residence but watch out as they are large portions.
