This is an unusually large bar and not too dark. Women are not frowned upon for coming here. They do love Boney M, which is played most of the time. The staff are friendly here. We both felt welcome.

To be honest you don't come to Kanyakumari for the nightlife. However you may want a cold beer. Not many western women come to Kanyakumari, but you don't get frowned upon for going in the bar.
The atmosphere is okay, but we went in there when it was shut without realising. We were served by the barman who then sat down to watch TV. He then started complaining as we were there when the bar was shut. We honestly didn't know that it was shut and why serve us!

We were in Kanniyakumari on my birthday and decided to go watch the sunset quietly. We arrived early and found a good spot on a large rock, but we were not the only ones there...
More and more locals (and indian tourists) came for the same reason. When the sun goes down a lot of Indians walked into the water. It was a beautiful birthday!
Later I found out that Kanniyakumari is pilgrimage town - a place where people fulfil their spiritual duties.
A special time to go here is during "Chaitrapurnima" (Tamil for the April full moon day), it is then that you can experience the sunset and the moonrise over the ocean simultaneously.
Dress Code: Dress properly, to Indian standard.
