Kodaikanal Restaurants

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Rasoi Restaurant is located in Maratha Complex, Kodaikanal. Its at the 1st floor of this building and is in the MIDDLE of the building.

Location :- From the Seven Junction(Petrol Pump on your RHS) proceed straight (20 Meters) towards Hotel GOLDAN Parks Inn--> Take Left and walk 50 Meters. You will see a complex on your RHS that is Maratha Complex.

BEWARE :- There is one more Punjabi Dhaba in this Complex (The corner shop on Right Hand Side if you see the building from front) but that is not so impressive as is Rasoi Restaurant.

The look of tghis spot might be very ordinary but if you miss the food here you will be loss.

Try out the following without fail:-

    1. Rajma - Chawal
    2. Thepla ( The Gujrathi Dish) - This is the very thin Methi Paratha which one should not miss.
    3. The Prices are too reasonable.

Apart from the dedicated dishes you can also try out the Punjabi and Gujrathi Thalis.

Favorite Dish: 1. Rajma - Chawal (I'd rate it 10 out of 10)
    2. Thepla ( The Gujrathi Dish) - This is the very thin Methi Paratha which one should not miss.

I don't know the places that I went but I know that there were a couple that I enjoyed drinking chai and eating some pastries with some local old guys. The people in the tea houses seemed quite friendly. I enjoyed listening to the stories of the adventures that they had in their lives.

Kodaikanal Tourist Traps

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Tour Operators like Raja Travels and Asian Travels usually conducts a full/ half day sight seeing tour. They Charge INR 150 per person for full day tour.

In the middle of tour the conductor MIGHT approach you a ask for INR 10 as the entry fees of forest area but I never saw him paying that fees.

Unique Suggestions: Ask your conductor/driver that whenever the forest area will come you will pay the amount directly to the authorized person !

Fun Alternatives: Ask your conductor/driver that whenever the forest area will come you will pay the amount directly to the authorized person !

I truly enjoyed taking long walks near the golf course towards the "Guna caves".it is comparatively less polluted and not much crowd. The scenery is charming. The best part is after a long walk,in case you feel hungry and choose to eat out, then you are not too far away from small joints/shacks that sell hot bread toast and omelets,chilli...

  • Walking around

While walking around I could see how the local people lived and worked the land. As the elevation is quite high and can be steep in places I got to see the land terraced. I always like seeing the terraces as they are amazing works of art that take backbreaking amounts of work for their upkeep. Sorry my photo sucks!!

  • Waterfall

I found this small water fall on one of my hikes. I did come across some larger ones too but didn't take photos of them. Don't really know why. Back in those days I wasn't the shutterbug that I am now. It did rain a little while I was there too. The steam you can see in the photo is from the sun heating up the ground after the rains and finished.
