This is a white snapper served fried with Moonrakers' special butter sauce. The first is quite big & we got good deal for this fish at Rs450 because the night before we also spend quite a lot in Moonrakers. In fact we almost make Moonrakers our one stop dining and service centre. I hired a moped here, dinner twice and lunch once also not forget to mention having the Ayurvedic massage here few hours before leaving Mamallapuram to airport. I saw the guy sitting next table to us having big tiger prawn, if not because my fish is way too big i would have order that as well. Leave a Comment

by muddybok The Blue Elephant Restaurant is actually owned by the same people who run the Moonrakers. The menu, chefs, prices are all the same and the only different here is Blue Elephant is air conditioned. I see some local yuppies love to eat from Blue Elephant instead of Moonrakers partly due to the air conditioning which is hard to come by in India. Blue Elephant is just the opposite of Moonrakers. If you sit long enough, you will realise that the foods are coming from both kitchens and sometime your food are brought over by the waiter from the other side of the street. Leave a Comment

Eat across from this place by Canadienne This beachside restaurant had amazing food ~ and what a location! It's a fantastic place to kick back and relax, enjoying a Kingfisher (or other drink of choice). They prepared fresh fish for us. . .fries as well. It was simple, but extremely tasty food. The restaurant in the photograph is not where we ate ~ but I took the picture from our restaurant's patio. So, if you can find the one in the photograph, you'll have located my recommendation as well. This place has a Gallic flavour about it as it's owned by a Frenchman so there's lots of crepes for desert on the menu. The menu also includes a lot of seafood such as big prawns (Rs260) and tiger prawns (Rs370), steaks (Rs160) plus the usual Indian fair. Food took a while to come and the waiters are a bit idiotic and jumpy. Leave a Comment Theme: OtherAddress: Othavadai Cross Street

My driver enjoying an excellent sea food lunch. by K1w1wanderer, 1 more photos I've been to Mamallapuram a number of times and find myself contantly drawn back to Le Ritz. The restaurant is at the back of the building and offers a quiet location, a choice of inside or courtyard dining and a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. The menu includes a good selection of tasty Indian dishes, excellent fresh seafood and a smattering of Chinese and Continental options. As someone who prefers less touristy alternatives, that fact that Le Ritz attracts both Indian and foreign clientele appeals to me, as does the spotlessly clean kitchen !! The owner, Kuber, is really friendly, and helpful, and fully understands the concept of good customer service. In fact I get the feeling that almost nothing would be too much trouble from ensuring my friends food is not spicy, while mine is, to giving us suggestions on what to do locally, buying my train ticket or arranging my car transfer back to Chennai airport. Well worth a visit !
Grilled jumbo prawns. When I first saw this dish I wasn't sure as the prawns are covered in a black paste but the flavour really is to die for !
