    Enfield Rental at Mamallapuram

I hired a Royal Enfield Classic 500cc at Mamallapuram at Chennai. There are many shops in Chennai and Mamallapuram hiring bikes, mopeds, scooters including the awesome Royal Enfields. Some of them are SFA Motorcycle Rentals 9952100400. Bike Hire Chennai 9840563179 Chennai Motorcycle Rentals 8939768855. The Royal Enfield 500cc costs about Rs.1200 to Rs.1500 a day. The rental gets cheaper if hired for longer period. Make sure the papers are clear and the bike is in good condition before hiring. I had awesome experience of riding an Enfield from Mamallapuram to Pondy. You may also email them .. at sfacompanies@gmail.com or bikehirechennai@gmail.com

Mamallapuram is well connected with Chennai and Pondicherry, from Chennai its just 50 Kms and from Pondicherry its just 95Kms. Best and economical option is catching Bus its really cheap and easily available. But if you really want to catch bus then try to get it from station called "Koyambedu" or "Thiruvanmiyur". These two station are starting point for buses and from Koyambedu buses going to Pondicherry may stop at Mamallapuram and AC buses are also available. From thiruvanmiyur, its also a starting stop for buses and it will take around 1 hr from this stop to reach Mamallapuram, but from Koyambedu its all about traffic on the way it may take 2-3 hrs to reach Mamllapurm. Bus ticket may cost 2-3 US$ for non AC bus.

Cabs are also available and if you are staying in chennai then you can ask your hotel for cabs to arrange it for you. Probably they will charge 5-8 Rs. per Km.

Tiger cave is on the way to Mamallpuram and its 5 Kms from Mamallapuram and if you want visit it the from Mamallpuram you will get buses and bus no. are 588 & 599. And plenty of Share auto are available from to and from Mamallapuram and it will cost you just 7 Rs. for one way.
I hope this may help you little bit. Best travelling time is early morning and late in the evening.

  • Motorcycle/Enfield Bullet rentals

by Keeganlee Written Dec 24, 2008

For Bullet rentals (350cc) contact Ganesh in Mamallapuram at 9384066777. He'll willingly rent out bikes for months at a time without any limits on where you may want to take the bike in India. I've rented bikes from him for years and if there's ever any problem he gladly takes care. If you have a problem out of state with the bike he'll help resolve that, too - even to the point of coming to get the bike and return it to Mamallapuram himself. If you're in Chennai or Pondy he'll bring a bike to you directly. His English is pretty good so communication with him is fairly painless. Watch out for unmarked speed breakers and petrol thieves!!

    Moped

    Under powered Mopad

I rented this moped from Moonrakers at the price of Rs150 and it served me quite well except that it's quite dangerous to ride such a small bike on India highway.

There is one small little hook welded very symmetry on the handle bar that let you hook your day sack on it without causing trouble or balance of the ride. I was quite impressed with that & before I actually tried to hook my bag on it, I was assumed it's gonna affect the stability of my ride.

P/s: my first choice was getting an Enfield Bullet for my ride but I was born short. ***!
