    Subam Restaurant

We stayed at Subam Hotel and this same hotel has restaurant at ground floor, nothing fancy about this restaurant, you will get local food and that also not that expensive, Kitchen is visible from restaurant, they have kept things very neat and clean so no need to worry about it.

I did not like the quality of food, I mean taste was not that good. And we tried other places which were little cheaper and better than this place. we get lot of options in palani so no need to worry ,only thing I did not find any fancy or big end restaurant in palani so its all basic.

And one more thing to add here, just because this Palani temple visited by devotees from all over india, this restaurant lost its touch for south indian meal. It was like combination of everything, all states of india but not tamilnadu. The meal was nothing like tamilnadu meal I didnt liked it and I am not recommending it to anybody.

Palani Transportation

  • Around Palani

To travel within Palani, there are many buses, autos and cabs. If hiring a cab, then it is better to enquire with more than one travel agent/ cab service before finalizing on a cab. Very often the cab drivers are quite informative and offer to guide you. It is better not to seek their help to take you to shops.

  • By road

You can hire a car or take your own to Palani. The approach roads are good. Equipped with a road map, it is easy to drive down. However if going from Chennai, it is better you take the plane or train or the overnight bus. The bus being the last option due to the tedious nature of the drive.

    Palani General Tips

1)----> Using footwear on the Palani hill steps is not allowed and dont forget to leave your footwear here at Free chapal(Footwear) stand. And shop keeper near to this stand will ask us to leave our footwear at their shops and they will guard our footwear and in return we have to purchase sth from their shop. We left our footwear at this stand its free and if you wish then you can pay out of gratitude but they wont ask you for money. The most important thing once you deposit your footwear they will give you token for that and you have to return it back to get your footwear back. If you loose that token then you have to fight hard for you footwear, probably you will not it back.

2)--->Avoid using footwear on Palani temple steps, and dont use Lungies/Sarong when entering into temple premises.

3,5)--->This temple has Reverse Osmosis plant for drinking water. I saw at two place they got this plant and its in working condition. Quality of water is really good as the plant is working. And Drinking water points are available at short distance. So even if you are not carrying bottled water with you no need to worry. Apart from that lot of shops on the way selling bottled water we can buy too.

4)---->Toilets are also available on the way so no need to worry in case of nature's call.

Footwear Stand Need to be Remembered before Entering Temple steps Gaurdian of Reverse osmosis plant Nature
