Favorite thing: I've circled the Nilgiri Hills and Ooty on this map ~ they are located in Tamil Nadu, on the border of Kerala. You can also see the location of Mudumalai National Park.
The name Ootacamund or Udagamandalam comes from the Toda village named Othakamanthu, meaning 'One Stone Village.'
Fondest memory: The trip up into the Nilgiri Hills was a fantastic experience ~ it exposes you to yet another side of India. The temperature drops, the vegetation becomes more lush, and the Toda tribal people have a lifestyle and customs that are unique and engrossing.
