this temple is 30mts away from vellore centre. a very old 11th century subramonya temple atop a hill has been renovated and redecorated by the efforts of a single person in to an aesthetic beauty with a very good scenic view. To reach the temple you have to climb a lot of stairs .The bus stop is at the bottom of the hill. you can also reach the top by car or autorickshaw.

This fort was built by the vijayanagar kings in the 16 th century, captured and occupied by the sultans of bijapur, nawabs of arcot and later marathas.the british captured it after the fall of TIpu sultan and kept Tipu's sons and daughters captive here.

this remarkably well preserved fort is made of granite and is sorrounded by a moat which is fed from suryagunta tank. It is designed in such a way that there is a main rampart followed by circular wall interrupted at intervals by rectangular projections.

inside the fort is the jalagandeswara temple, govt of Tamilnadu museum, ASI museum , a mosque church, and palaces where tipu's children were kept captive.
