when in tropics the dictum is go for the crowded restaurants that way you are assured the food is current.one such is hotel sushil right opposite CMC vellore, excellent tamil breakfast strong coffee. variety of fruit juice but be on the safe side avoid.

Favorite Dish: idiappam and coconut milk,dosa,chappathi

the nearest railway station is katpadi which is 5 km away .katpadi is well connected chennai 2hrs ,bangalore ,hyderabad ,trivandrum 14hrs.

the new bus stand in vellore is connected to chennai, kanchipuram, thirupathi,bangalore etc
the road from vellore to chennai is excellent.

vellore is not a malaria or dengue prone area but evenings can be horrifying with the hoard of mosquitoes which descends from god knows where. forget about spending a quiet night in the lawn gazing at the moat sorrounding the fort
