This new restaurant was located at the front of my hotel (the Tepso). It's rather a posh place with about a dozen waiters and smoked out windows. I had a very good mutton Rogan Josh (Rs95) which one of the dozen waiters warned me was going to be spicy but wasn't that spicy when it turned up. Rice is rather expensive - Rs60 for just plain steamed rice plus you have to pay 12.5% tax. Good place with good service and food.

There are many cake shops and bakeries in Allahabad, especially on MG Marg and the surrounding Civil Lines area. This was a real treat for me as up until then I hadn't encountered anything like them after travelling in India for about a month. As you can see by the pictures, the shops serve many western style cakes such as cheescakes and gateux's as well as local India's cakes and sweets. Prices range from about Rs15 to Rs25 a slice.
