So here's some Hindi words commonly used that might make your travel to Sarnath simpler:
Water (Paani), Food (Khana), Lane (Gali), Road (Rasta), House (Ghar), The Ganges (Ganga), Money (Rupiya), How much? (Kitna?), Where? (Kidhar?), How? (Kaise?), Why? (Kiu?), Who? (Kaun?), When? (Kab?), Price (Kimat), Cloth (Kapra), Tea (Chai), Yes (Ha), No (Nehi), Very good (Bohot Achcha), Bad (Kharab), My name is ... (Mera naam ... hai), What is your name? (Tumhara naam kya hai?)
Thank you (Dhanyabad)
Favorite thing: Here in Sarnath has many Muslims, just click the photo to see in details. The women here dressed the Arabic way of full black robe, they covered completely using a piece of black but transparent cloth all over the face. Very obviously they are Muslims.
Favorite thing: Went to Sarnath by autorickshaw 200Rs (return) on 10th Feb 2005. It was a place 8km distance far from Varanasi but it took almost 45mins to get there, why, because you need some 100 twist and turns among millions on unseen vehicles in extreme congested situation plus non-stop honks plus cows pigs horses dogs and homeless peoples. Some peoples even sleep by covering themself a piece of cloth almost in the middle of street with dust nearly inches thick and exhausted pollution from vehicles....etc. Not even in your dream can think of a world like this, I was completely cultural-shocked by all things seen here.
Favorite thing: Main things to do here: visit the Thaise, Chinese, Japanese and Tibetan temples. Go to the archeologic museum and park, visit the deerpark, go see the Ashoka Pilar, Monastry ruins, the Chaukhandi or the Dhamekh Stupa or the market ;)
Favorite thing: Ok you have to have some funny pictures for the homefront. I've seen these icevendors in other parts of Uttar pradesh. Over here i took a nice picture of them though.
