    Shivtala

    by sanjay2808 Updated Mar 7, 2006

Shivtala - Its a very old Shiv temple and is a protected site by Archealogical Survey of India. Its a very old temple (dont remeber when it was built).
You can visit this place by Bus / Auto. The ST buses are available from Muchipara towards Shivtala. If you have to come from station, change at Muchipara for the Bus.
You can also get AutoRicks from Muchipara or DGR Railway station.
The temple is surrouned by trees and jungle. Though recently the jungle has been reduced to bushes !. There is a pond very near to the temple, roughly 75 metres from the Temple.
The bushes/Jungles also have old buildings which were erected during British days and they are in ruins, inhabited by Bats.
When I was a kid, I used to visit shivtala jungle/ bushes during january to get the jungle berry's which were easily available. There is a very big "well" in the jungle I was scared of :).

    by sanjay2808 Written Mar 7, 2006

There are two Movie Theatres in Durgapur, "Durgapur Cinema" and "Anuradha".

"Durgapur Cinema" or DC as it it popularly known as is a decent theatre and is located at the heart of Durgapur, it is easily accessible by ST buses, private buses.

The main Movie hall shows the latest movies, mostly Hindi.
At the basment, it has a small Movie Hall known as "Jhumur" which mostly shows Adult Movies or English Movies or Children Movies.

Tickets are relatively cheap and ranges from Rs15 - Rs40 as per the sitting arrangement.

The bigger hall has Air-Condition enclosure but the whole theatre is not Air-Conditioned but its Fan cooled.

The Smalled hall is Fan cooled.

"Anuradha" hall is located in Benachity market. I have been there once only so dont know the details about it. I am not sure if it has now Air-Conditioned.
