Chandragiri is located 14 kms south of the famous Hindu pilgrimage centre of Tirupati.
The empire contributed vastly to Telugu culture, art & literature. The surrounding country is fertile & picturesque - with interesting archaeological remains. The last capital of Vijayanagar kings was Chandragiri in Chittoor District. Ruins of the fort exist to this day & amidst them stand the palaces that have been given a facelift. The fort stands next to a huge rock and is just 12 kms from the temple town of Tirupati.
AP Tourism has put together a unique show at Chandragiri to relive the glory of the Vijayanagar Empire. The show in English starts at 8 pm in the evening and tickets are priced at Rs. 30 for adults and Rs. 20 for children.
