April month in Andamans

by bkarjee

Andaman Islands will be hot and humid in April month, but you cant compare it to the heat you may encounter in either Mumbai or Chennai or Kolkata. The temperature in Andaman hardly exceed 35 because of the fact that it is an island. It will not be too crowded either because most of the schools in India close for the summer vacation in May June period. So in a nutshell, it wil be a good time. You will have all the water sports activity available at this time. Enjoy your visit. Andamans are one of the best place in India to visit.

WHITE SANDY BEACHES OF ANDAMAN ISLANDS

by bkarjee

If you want to visit Andaman and Nicobar Island, there are flights available from Kolkata and Chennai. The city in Andaman, where you fly into is called Port Blair. There are a few airlines that fly this route like Jetlite, Kingfisher Airlines, Indian Airlines. One website through you can make all the air booking is make my trip (http://www.makemytrip.co.in/makemytrip/MMTHome.do). But I have never used this site. Andaman is a perfect beach destination and the sea is very clean, water is blue. The beaches are clean, less crowded and are better than what you would find in Phuket, Langkawi, Pattaya. The best part is that the islands are almost virgin, not much commercialization and you will find vast stretches of white sandy beaches with very few people. Not all islands of Andaman are accessible for visitors. Hope this helpsBK

DISEASE OF THE DAY-TRIPPER

by Siddha3th

One of life's beautiful pleasures which the Andamans throws up is island-hopping, where you'll find yourself really spoilt for choice.A two-and-a-half speed boat ride from Port Blair away, Havelock Island is a picture-perfect paradise of pristine white sands and unreal turquoise waters. The beaches on this island are numbered rather than named (!), with No. 7 taking top honours :) Cinque Island is one of the prettiest in these parts, but you'll need special permission form the Forest Department to visit. About 80 kms. from Port Blair, Long Island is another enchanting addition to the Andamans' embarrasment of riches, counting a lovely sandy beach and coconut plantations amongst its attractions.I've just scratched the surface here. I'll leave it to you to peel off the layers of this endlessly fascinating journey...

HARBOURING A FEELING

by Siddha3th

Port Blair is very much a harbour, and as such, activites in and around the Capital city are living, breathing testimonies to the fact. Fishing boats keep sailing to and fro, you'll sight the larger ships coming in ferrying passengers from the mainland. Indeed, the only other way to get here are via the flights coming in from Chennai and Kolkotta. But beyond the obvious, it's that small-town-by-the-ocean vibe which pervades the air... a hustle and bustle which remains charming no matter how chaotic the scene gets! It's a feeling of adventure, which apart from being quite intoxicating, is also highly contagious ;)

WEEKENDER'S GUIDE TO THE WEATHER

by Siddha3th

The Andamans are blessed with a tropical climate, with temperatures fluctuating between 20ºC - 30ºC. There's always this soft breeze blowing, which makes it a pleasure to walk up and down Port Blair's narrow winding lanes.Actually, walking or biking should be your preferred modes of transport, 'cause only then will your senses experience the charms of the place full-on. Charm of the wooden homes perched delicately above rising hills. Charm of the scented flowers adorning the outrageously lush surroundings. The perfect time to visit is between April and December, when all these pleasures are heightened considerably.
