Roads of Andaman & Nicobar Island

by goutammitra

This may sound unusual for many. A tip on off the beaten path on the Roads? But, yes, since I am from India, our roads are in horrible state except for in South India. I cound not stop making a tip on the roads by seeing the city, village road condition. They are just superb, that also mean, people are less corrupt there, who do not steal money from the contract job awarded to them. They build the roads honestly. In the begining, I was having the impression that they have built the roads near airport in a better way to impress the tourist but I found the busy market roads are also much better than our mainland streets!Next tip I am going to put the interior village & forest roads.

See The Under Water Coral At Redskin Island

by kmohandas

The Redskin Island offers the lure of underwater coral gardens and unspoiled beaches. If you are really lucky you might even end up catching a view of the dolphins merrily playing in the emerald waters of the sea. This island is a great place for swimming, scuba diving and snorkeling. A boat departs Tues to Sun from Wandoor village to Red Skin and Jolly Buoy islands at 10 am (1½ hr) and returns around 5 pm. The boat should be booked in advance. It can be approved through a travel agency or your hotel. The Red Skin Island Tourist attractions is beautiful and there are some nice coral, colourful fishes and silver sandy beaches along the meandering coastline.

Anthropological museum in Port Blair

by bradbeaman

There are some indigenous tribal people who live their life as if in the Paleolithic age.You can learn about the tribes by visiting the Anthropological museum in Port Blair. This museum does not allow pictures to be taken. The Marine Museum in Port Blair also has information of tribal and allows pictures. Ask around in the shops and you can get a video CD recorded by Anthropologist of the remote tribes.

A SECLUDED TREAT

by Siddha3th

One of my Dad's buds from the Indian Navy, dude by the name of Baath, chucked up his job when he got sucked in by the undeniable pull of The Andamans. Now, he's one of the Islands' true characters. The photo alongside is the place he was planning to turn into a restaurant ( maybe he already has). Then, it had these charming wooden logs for chairs, and the tastiest seafood, whipped up by a scuba-diving chef! Baath himself had just opened up a diving school too, which is probably rockin' right about now!All this is at Wandoor, where he's a legendary figure. Let him buy you a beer, and sit back as he recalls how he and two other fellow scuba-divers were stranded at sea for 13 days (true story), and lived to tell the tale!

I WANDOOR WHAT IT IS ABOUT THIS PLACE

by Siddha3th

So you're in Port Blair. You've woken up around 10, grabbed a cool shower, and stuffed yourself with a sinfully tasty Omlette Paratha. What next? Well, there's only one thing to do. Hop on a bike and ride down to Wandoor, more specifically, New Wandoor. This won't take you more than an hour, and you'll be zipping by some seriously beautiful scenery... lush green vegetation, lakes appearing out of nowhere, children happy in the cocoon of their wonder years.New Wandoor's got that sleepy coastal town vibe down to a fine art. Watch the floating driftwood, discover a hidden trail, ditch the bike for a boat... "go with the flow, anyone?"

THE ISLAND REMAINS UNNAMED...

by Siddha3th

See that litle spot of green beneath the huge, billowy cloud? Well, that's my secret island. With it's lovely little stretch of soft sand. And a huge cliff that stamps itself with such menacing authority, oblivious to the people on the shore, since its leafy peak can only be seen when circling the island by boat. This piece of magic lies just off the shore of New Wandoor. Sure it's got a name.. some English sounding thing. Sure.. if I tried real hard, I might even remember what it is.But the illusion's even sweeter... of having an island to myself. Where I'll retire after plundering the rich trading ships. To evenings of gentle Spanish strumming & hard Vodka shots. Full Moon Fever rising...

Head north first!

by Williebobs

As soon as you arrive in Port Blair we recommend getting on a boat to Diglipur (north 19 hours). After a 4-5 day boat to get to the Andamans this may sound a bit daunting but it's really worth it. Then you can slowly work your way south by truck/bus/boat.Avis Island - nr Mayabunder. The more people you can get the cheaper the huts. The Burmese family who own the Sea and Sand restaurant in Mayabunder look after the island (and run a great restaurant).
