Avoiding "Delhi Belly"

by janiebaxter

I have found Travla pills invaluable when travelling, to avoid upset stomachs and diarrhoea. I have now taken them for 4 trips and they have worked each time. They work by creating a layer of friendly bacteria in your stomach that prevents other bacteria getting through. You take 2 a day with food, starting 1 week before you travel and while you are travelling. What a find! Cost in UK £8 per pack but worth it.

Sea and Rainforest

by janiebaxter

Pack your clothes in Waterproof Bags for the boat transfers if you are travelling by Dhongies, as the waves are quite strong at times and can get into the boat. Long Trousers for walking in the rainforest to protect from mosquitos and biting ants, which there are lots of!Flip flops for getting on and off boats. Insect Repellant. There are many mosquitos and it is a low to medium risk area for Malaria. Torch as electricity can be erratic with power cuts, and it goes dark early - around 4.30 in December. Most lodges do not have well lit paths so finding your way back to your room after dinner can be difficult.Binoculars for birdwatching. The birds are lovely but can be difficult to spot in the dense forest.Umberella or sunshade as there is little shade on the beaches apart from the trees.
