Those who know about Andaman, may also know that when the country ( India) was divided by The British, there was huge communal unrest in both India and Pakistan and millions of Hindu took shelter in India. The Bengalee refugees from East Pakistan ( Bangladesh) came to Kolkata or in West Bengal. There was great problem in accomodating them, feeding them and employ them. Many were offered to settle in Port Blair, Andamans. Many came by their own choice or they had no other option. I really loved to do some shopping at this place. Since all of us know that they survive on tourism money, we should also help them to earn. The place is run by women cooperative , who sell video CD/DVD on Andaman, the Aborigines, their artefact, the settlers artefact, Pictures and so many things.Please do give a visit to this place and buy something, even if you dont' require them. I am sure you shall love those CD/DVD on the life of Aborigines, you wont' get them anywhere as they are published by the Govt. You will not be able to shoot also as shooting picures and videos of Jarawas is banned.
