Designing of Chandigarh is very interesting. It is split in many, quiet big sectors and between them there are a lot of trees and bushes. That makes the city look very green and nice, but from other side this division in sectors makes it very big and quiet complicated for people who are traveling by car.

On our morning in Chandigarh we visited a Sikh Gurdwara in the suburbs of Chandigarh. It was a pretty interesting experience and we were lucky enough to be accompanied by a local who showed us around and explained all about the Sikh religion and introduced us to the head people of the Gurdwara. At the back there were also rooms that travellers can stay in free of charge, the Sikh faith is very accommodating.
When you enter a Gurdwara you are expected to cover your head for males and females and if you do not have anything available you can borrow a scarf at the entry (as I did). You will then leave your shoes and can enter the prayer hall. There were also people readng the Guru Granth Sahib (or Sikh Holy Book).
An appropriate place to have a look around seeing as Chandigarh is the capital of the Punjab and the heartland of the Sikh community.
