In Connaught place are many stores, and many of them are oriented towards tourists. Be this as it may, I can strongly recommend to go here for books. I think there were two, maybe three bookstores in the vicinity, and we opted for the Bookworm at 29B Connaught place. This store had a great selection of books both by native and foreign authors. One of the greatest things about being in another country is surely that you can effortlessly get your hands on books by native writers, even in English. Books that would be really hard to find in your own country.
The staff was very helpful too, and gave us some tips on what authors to chose. We ended up with quite a pile each...

Daryaganj area is one of the oldest areas of Delhi and now it is a crowded area full of old book stalls where you can buy second hand old books for cheap price.
