Built since 1464 AD, Neemrana Fort-Palace is among India's oldest heritage resorts. Neemrana became the third capital of the descendants of Prithviraj Chauhan III, who was killed in battle by Mohammad Ghori in 1192 AD. This picturesque site was chosen by Raja Rajdeo and Neemrana derived its name from a brave local chieftain Nimola Meo, who when defeated by the Chauhans, pleaded that his name be given to his lost kingdom. Neemrana is the oldest property being run as heritage resort. Situated on a hill side, 122 kms from Delhi or the Delhi-Jaipur highway, it is Rajasthan's closest palace from Delhi, The rooms are tastefully furnished with an eclectic blend of traditiona Indian and colonial furniture. Non Residents Visitors not staying at Neemrana Fort-Palace will be allowed entry, only if the Fort is not fully chartered. They will be charged Rs. 250 per head for visiting the public areas for 2 hours, between 9 am & 5 pm only.

A Golden Triangle Tour

For a week, it is suitable to remain nearby Delhi because of two reasons. First, wasting time in travel is not a good approach & Secondly, u have good options available near Delhi itself to make u tour gr8.

I would suggest u three places to complete three corners of your golden triangle. They are

1. Delhi
2. Agra
3. Jaipur

Ur Itinerary may be like this:

Day 1: Reaching Delhi

Day 2: In Delhi, visit Lotus Temple, Quatab Minar, Red Fort, Raj Ghat

Day 3: Continued... India Gate, Rashtrapati Bhawan (President House, Akshardham Temple plus Shopping.

Day 4: Early morning leave for Jaipur by Luxurious bus (5-6 hours journey) & visit some places in Jaipur.

Day 5: Continue Siteseeing in Jaipur (Aamer Fort, Jantar Mantar & various museums etc.)

Day 6: Leave for Agra early morning(5-6 hours)...Visit Taj Mahal (In 7 wonder List), Fatehpur Sikari etc.

Day 7: If any left out in Agra, complete it & Back to Delhi (3hrs max by road) & then back to ur Country.

For details on Delhi, visit
http://www.exploredelhi.com/places-to-visit/index.html

Apart from this, if u don't want to engage a guide/travel agent, u can book tickets for train online at
www.irctc.co.in

and status may be checked at
www.indianrail.gov.in (Official Site bit slow)
www.cleartrip.com....train search (good information available)

U may manage without a guide but u should finalise ur Itinerary before arrival, so that u r clear on what to do in India.

Regarding booking of these types of tours, u may look for options on www.irctc.co.in also. This is govt. organised tours and r good with best of the prices.

Their address is

NORTH ZONE 7th Floor,
Bank of Baroda Building,
16 Parliament Street,
New Delhi- 110001

Tel.No.- 011-23314763 Fax No.- 011-23314763

I hope this will help.

Keep Smiling
Vivek Dadu

You could hire a car to go to Ajmer from Delhi, which would be convinient especially if you want to visit other places in Rajasthan like Jaipur,Pushkar etc..You could halt at one of the places and make it a three day or five day trip according to the places you want to visit.
The Ajmer Dargah is very famous and Pushkar is a beautiful place which has the temple of Lord Bramha(which is very rare)

Jaipur - The Pink City of Victory

Hawa Mahal - The Palace of the Winds

Jaipur, the state capital of Rajasthan, is located about 265km (165 miles) south-west of Delhi and is one of India's most popular tourist destinations. This well-planned city was designed by a young Bengali engineer and scholar named Vidyadhar Chakravarty. The great warrior-astronomer Maharaja Jai Singh II wanted a new capital to be built south of Amber and named it Jaipur ("City of Victory") after himself. Work began in 1727 on his palace known as the City Palace and the surrounding Old City and took just six years to complete. Jaipur was planned in a grid system with wide straight avenues, roads, streets and lanes and uniform rows of shops on either side of the main roads, all arranged in nine rectangular city sectors (chokdis), representing the ancient Hindu map of the universe. The city was surrounded by a crenellated masonry wall, measuring 20 feet in height and 9 feet thick with seven imposing gateways. In 1876 Jaipur was painted pink to welcome Prince Albert and earned it the name, "The Pink City".

Most of Jaipur's attractions lie within the Old City walls. These include the Jantar Mantar observatory which includes the world's largest sundial, the unique looking Hawa Mahal which has become the signature building of the city, and the City Palace. To the north of the city lie three forts - Nahargarh, Jaigarh and Amber which cannot be missed. More can be found on my Jaipur page, below.

A 4/5 hour journey from Delhi, well connected by road and railway is the former princely state of Bharatpur. Time has seen this place in great splendour and today Bharatpur is famous for the Keoladeo national park or popularly called as the Bharatpur Birds sanctuary. The sanctuary houses nearly 400 species of birds and many reptiles and animals. The place is visited by migratory birds and the Siberian cranes. Bharatpur also has the Deegh fort and the museums which tell the saga of a glorious past.

Must go to the hill stations....

Must go to the hill stations. It is a very popular trip for indians there to spend their holidays. One reason is the weather is too hot in summer, they like to go to the hill station to make themselves cool....! Even in winter, there will be snow there and the view is so beautiful!!!!
Shimla is the most popular hill station in North India. It's full of British culture even the buildings are with British design. Nobody hate it! Do enjoy the weather there after getting burn down the hill.
Missorie is another hill station where people like to go. Less crowded and quiet coz people will first choose Shimla. That's the reason I love Missorie more.
Spend at least a few days on each hill station. Hotels are everywhere on top of the mountain.
