You can't leave Delhi without paying tribute to its great sights, right? Of course not, especially since most of them offer a great escape from the noise, the pollution and the crowds.
India Gate, the symbol of india's independence.
Situated in the center of a large, open green park and facing the presidential palace is like Paris' Arc du Triomph.
Humayun's Tomb, the mughal king's resting place. Surrounded by magnificent and peaceful gardens, the only thing that breaks the quiet is the sound of the crows and the eagles flying above.
Red Fort, a theater of the old glory and the majestic parades. Try to imagine this place when it was still inhabited by powerful maharajas and their mighty elephants. Enjoy the peace and quiet of the gardens.
And lot more...

Delhi has roughly 2 main areas:
The Old core of the city, called Old Delhi, in the north, is the dedalus of narrow streets around the Red Fort and the Jami Masjid mosque.
The new part of the city is crossed by huge ordered avenues and big monuments and government buildings. This area around Connaught Place and the Gate of India is called New Delhi.

mainly built in the 1930's of British in style, this is mainly an area in the middle of a large roundabout. The buildings are made of archways and are good for sightseeing out if the sun!!.
Here you will find many shops and restaurants as well as travel agencies and banks...a good place as any for the tourist to eat, shop and exchange.

Go see the Mahatma Gandhi statue. It is in the Mahatma Gandhi Park. I am not sure that this is an absolute must-see, because the statue wasn't very big or anything, it just seems like something you should do, he was a great leader after all.
Beware though, it was quite hard to find the right spot!

First I thought to discover Delhi by myself. Deffinitly a bad idea for me.
I booked a city tour by bus for 70 INR. Only one problem, the government of India wanted all the busses to change from diesel to fuel so no bus on this day. I rebooked taking a car for 600 INR and so it was possible to see exactly what I wanted to see and not all the touristic places.

Most travellers would of course visit CP and Chandni Chowk as these are often recommended on tourist guides. GK M block is not a typical tourist hideout and gives you a flavor of the way locals do it.

Sight Seeing
I dont know about you but while traveling I consider site seeing as some kind of an obligation. Although in the end it mostly turns out to be buildings and musesms parks and such things. So according to my strategy city should be lived in but site seeing should be completed as soon as possible and with as little effort as possible.
Delhi Tourism organizes 'Dilli Darshan' (Delhi Visit) day trips and are an extremely convenient way of checking out the monuments places mentioned in travel guides. These are:
Buildings/ Strctures: Red Fort, Lotus Temple, Qutab Minar, Old Fort, India Gate
Museums: National Museum, Doll Museum, Rail Museum
Memorials: of Mahatma Gandhi (RajGhat), Indira Gandhi (Shakti Sthal), Jagjeevan ram
Entertainment Parks: Appu Ghar, Wet n Wild (Gurgaon), Fun n Food (Gurgaon)
Planetarium: Nehru Planetarium and Museum (Teen Murti)
Delhi Tourism buses cover most of the popular sites.

The road-rules... Delhi roads are test of your nerves! Would never ever dream of driving here, though after a week, I did sort of start to relax sort-of (a little!) and gasp somewhat less as we were almost swerved into for the 1000th time!!! This was a unique experience indeed. Here are those cows on the road you have heard about before probably. Actually not as common a sight as I expected. Wished I had taken some pics when we drove through one neighbourhood that was full of them!! Next time.

it is a temple built by the ISKON - believers of the 'Hare Rama Hare Krshna' genre... there are foreigner priests also here. This place is the perfect example set to show the wide expanse of Indian religon. It is a beautiful temple. Also there is a hall which is used by devotees for common prayers, very peaceful place. There has been excellent use of light on the outside, so the best time to visit is around 1900 hrs. At this time you will also get to see the puja going on, there are lots n lots of people chanting the 'Hare Rama Hare Krishna' mantra and the dedications in their voice & on their faces will leave you spell bound.

One of my favorite things in India was visiting temples, this was SIKH and you have to enter with your head covered and barefoot. No problem!. Here we were listening to some music they were playing live!
