The transport in Delhi is horrifying. There are constructions every where because they have to finished all works for Commonwealth Game in 2010. The airport is under construction and
Long queue on arrival and departure.
Unique Suggestions: Think about your transportation because the traffic is jammed on every crossing of roads.
The traffic police is helpless.
Fun Alternatives: For departing people, you have to be at the airport before 5 hours of your take off timing.

Well, not quite a tourist trap this, but still it can get quite confusing for first timers sometimes and be pretty agonising...
The international (Indira Gandhi international)and domestic (Palam) airports are seperate buildings - and a few kilometers apart. Often, travellers end up at the other one and there is much last minute tension that results.
Also, at the domestic airport, Indian airlines, Alliance air and Kingfisher airlines have one terminal (1A), while all the rest of the private airlines share the other (1B).
Unique Suggestions: Make sure you tell your cab driver clearly, which airport you want to go to.
If you are travelling on a domestic flight, check if its Indian airlines, Alliance air or Kingfisher. If it is, then proceed to terminal 1A at palam airport, else Terminal 1B.

Foreword: this is a tourist trap only for tourists - for locals it's a very different story.
This place is a big traffic circle full of foreign shops, bars, international franchise restaurants and airline agencies... the same that you would find at home!
Unique Suggestions: At least just go there to use the services of an airline agency. All other excuses are... well, excuses!
Fun Alternatives: Try going anywhere else in Delhi - buy something local - drink something local - eat something local.

Delhi is a huge traffic jam!!!
It took a half day trying to see a mosque... And we saw it's minarets already from the car window, but impossible to get closer. And then we gave up, we left without seeing it.
Unique Suggestions: The air pollusion, dust, high temperature - all at the same time... It may end up with loosing nerves or you just fell down unconcious. Have your wet wipes, water, refresher and all this kind of stuff. meanwhile you have to prepare that it is impossible to breath at all! It is really as crazy as I describe here, believe me!
Fun Alternatives: I suggest to visit Delhi's sightseeings as early morning, as possible.
