street during rains
by 6aruna
I landed in Delhi when dry wind called Loo was in full swing, but afternoon suddenly everything changed and we had a thundershower . The whole street was flooded .We were stranded in an auto for half an hour right in the middle of a flooded high way . All large vehicles having a gala time drenching us in murky water . I had itchy skin for days together. They have built highways but drainage system is poor

Markets
by 6aruna
Every time i visited Delhi i used to stay in Kerala house smack in the middle of all activity, walking distance from janthar Manthar, connaught place and pali market. This time i stayed at Vasanth Vihar colony, huge colony which has A B and C sectors and each is again divided in to various areas with numbers 1,2,3 etc. For a new comer this can be a bit harrassing. you can definitely lose your way. These individual sectors have a shopping area which they call 'MARKET. Now in Kerala if we call a place a market you expect lots of hawkers and vegetable sellers and haggling and generally activity. here on the other hand is a multistory building and various shops. Now the trouble is if you want to get to an internet cafe/photo studio? some Markets may not have it you have to catch an auto and get From A market to the next market B/C.. All together a money draining sweaty, dehydrating experience...
Visit to Delhi,Jaipur,Agra & Varanasi
by vdadu
In India,a) You can prefer Trains over flights if there is no time specific boundation. It is always safe to book tickets either in Second AC or Third AC. However, First AC is also available but it is the costliest one...depends upon your budget. Second sleeper to be avoided.b) Trains booking can be done online usingwww.irctc.co.inbut u have to register yourself onto this site before booking tkts...it's free.Secondly,if u want to see the status of trains/time table/availability of berths etc. u can visitwww.indiarail.gov.inU can not book tickets over here but u need not to register onto this site for browsing.c) See, varanasi is overnight journey from Delhi by train. (Advisable to board a train than a flight). So, u can come to delhi and straight away leave for Varanasi as it is on the other side considering Delhi as centre point.Once u visit Varanasi, either book tickets for Jaipur...
