    Wetwipes & Re-sealable plastic bags

    by iris2002 Written Jun 27, 2007

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Luggage and bags: Re-sealable plastic bags are the bees knees in all of the Himalayas, I found no place that sells them and the tupper ware is very dodgy and leaks all the time.

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: as the seasons demand, but you can get most gear in Delhi anyway cheap as chips

Toiletries and Medical Supplies: with all that super security at airports, don't bother bringing moskito repellent or antiseptic creams, you can get them at local and large pharmacies all through Delhi.

Photo Equipment: go digital ......... that's all I can say ...... 2GB storage cards should do it

Camping/Beach/Outdoor Gear: there are natural cock-roach traps (stock up during monsoon season, they are great)

Miscellaneous: antiseptic wet wipes with tea tree oil --- also repells insects and mosquitos and is really good to anti bacterialise your hands when in public places or eating food.

Miscellaneous: Forget your wife, your husband, your girlfriend, your boyfriend, your mother, your father, your sister, your brother or any other travelling companion. These little things will be your best friend throughout your whole time in India. Look after them, nurture them, feed them , water them and most of all, don't lose them!

    Cover up!!!

by jannieomani Written Nov 3, 2006

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: I saw lots of travellers (men and women) wearing sleeveless shirts, shorts, short skirts etc. I don't know how much they were hassled but I covered my shoulders an legs at all times and wore LOOSE clothing (after all, I'm not trying to get a date with a local man). Be smart, take a look at the locals, they don't have much on display. Women always cover their legs and shoulders and diguise the shape of their breasts and waist. Men almost always cover their legs and shoulders. Indians are tolerant people but it is always nice to be respectful and just think, do you REALLY need to attract even more stares than you already would with fair skin, blue eyes etc.?????

    What to pack

    by l_joo Written May 20, 2005

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Luggage and bags: Basically tourists need not pack so much to visit New Delhi, just some simple shirts and pants, a pair of shoes will do, the rest can be bought here in cheap price. The only few things you must pack is probably all your electronic gadgets of digicam, mp3, charger, laptop, etc and a multi-purpose plug. Picture is a local Indian hand made sling bag, quite colorful, typical Indian color concept, I like it so much.

  • Stop Itching Cream

    by alcoholic29 Written May 7, 2005

Miscellaneous: People say bring mosquito repellant. I agree with that but bring some stuff to stop the itching because you're guranteed to get bit. The city is infested with mosquitos with the New Delhi Airport the worst. I was there in May and wore shorts everyday because it was so hot but you may want to consider wearing pants. Just deicde which is more bearable, walking in pants in 100 degree weather or having 10 mosquito bites itching.

    Pack ‘em up!

by intencity Written Feb 2, 2003

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Luggage and bags: soft waterproof luggage recod.

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: summer: cotton dress, cap, shades, sandals. Winter: heavy woolens, ear muffler a must, hand gloves, in rains: umbrella, rain coat. waterproof shoes.

Toiletries and Medical Supplies: mosturiser, antiseptic cream, band aid.

Photo Equipment: Is there insurance for camera equipment?? Though there is no fear of theft, but its necessary for high valued professional cameras, if there is insurance that is!

Camping/Beach/Outdoor Gear: No beach in this part of the country! Camping in the nearby high mountains is another story!

Miscellaneous: Do not forget to pack, mosquito repellant either a cream or any other option ( though most places in New Delhi is void of mosquitoes.)

Water, food you are accustomed to

    by OSV_Alero Written Jan 28, 2003

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Luggage and bags: Pack food and water, because 50% of the people that visit end up sick.

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Opened toe sandels will get your feet very dirty, and you stand the chance of diseases if you get cut.

Toiletries and Medical Supplies: Bring soft toliet paper, because the bathrooms in India tend to use stuff that feels like wood.

Photo Equipment: Film is easy to get, and not very expensive, so no need to pack it, just make sure you know the price of film before going, so you know what to negotiate for as a price.

Miscellaneous: Food, water, food, water. Don't forget to pack some. Though you can buy bottled water, it tastes kinda funny. Like drinking tap water in LA.
